No one sings anymore. The ones who do are arrested.

If an officer finds it offensive, I think you can be actually. :smiley-laughing002:

Nah, i'd like to hear it more often but only if everyone's going to belt it out. Embarrassing when there's a half-hearted rendition of that or You'll Never Walk Alone from a quarter of the stadium. Cheapens the song.

Definitely miss that tune, saw the Dublin crowd were singing it at the darts. Bring it back

I love it when the support sings the Fields of Athenry, it's one of our best. Incidentally am I the only one that grew up with "Hail Mary, let the free birds fly!" or is everyone else on board with the scourge of civilisation, "baby"? :smiley-laughing002:

Disgrace that a Scottish club in the 21st century is even considering singing this nonsense. We should change our strip to blue and white and sing Scotland the Brave

Actually, Scotland owes its civilization to the Irish who set up camp on Iona and the surrounding regions who would eventually call themselves "Scots". The Picts eventually assimilated with them.

I'm quite sure the Irish kingdom of Dál Riata preceded Saint Columba and Holy Iona. :icon_mrgreen:

Ah, you're correct! :50: Sorry, its not a topic taught here in the States.

That being said, if it weren't for Dal Riata, then Columbo would never have been able to have safe passage into Pict territory to later assimilate the two peoples.

I was only being lighthearted, your original point was correct. :icon_mrgreen: Even though Dál Riata was established as a kingdom of the Ulaid prior to Saint Columba's passage into Scotland, it was because of Saint Columba that Dál Riata was assured any real political power. Dál Riata's influence would have been non-existent without the Saint's evangelising and diplomacy among the Picts!

Nor did it end there. It's not taught anywhere, not even in Ireland, but the Irish people saved western civilisation. There's a great book on the subject. :celt_2:

I've heard that theory MM, and it's not completely untrue; but mostly it was the Arabs that saved western civilization.

I have to disagree. :icon_mrgreen: Without a doubt contact with the Arab world was influential, but a great deal of what they gave us was nothing more than preserving what we (Europeans) had given them.

It was sung at the Partick Thistle game, and at Kilmarnock a few weeks ago.

We did not give them algebra, astronomical discoveries, cosmology and huge mathematical and architecturl achievements. The Arabs showed Europeans how a triangular sail could be used to sail into the wind. It's no coincidence that Portugal became a massive Naval power not longer after the Arabs left their country.

The guitar, the bridge mill, citric acid, teaching hospitals, code breaking, hydrochloric acid and probably much more i cant remember were all introduced to Europe by Muslim Arabs

It's true the Irish were one of very few peoples who continued writing during the dark ages. The Irish preserved western civilization but the Arabs improved it massively
