It's pretty mind-boggling that it is even possible this type of discussion is happening in this day and age.

Sports science, nutrition and sports psychology are not new. There is no excuse for a club like ours not to have this all sorted as a matter of course. Not even sure how this relates at all to who is the current manager as should just be a given.

This kind of sums it up for me.

A guy who hadnt played in 6 months. Seriously concerning.

I dont think its anything to do with Covid. Definitely the management and coaching. Today's news that we dont analyse games after defeats again points to issue behind the scenes.

Well they must be training and discussing tactics because they are not watching games back when they are back after matches.

Ten is gone if this is how we go about our preparations and faults go undetected and uncorrected...

And our displays and performances show exactly that.. same mistakes every week

All of the summer signings bar Laxalt and Moi don’t look physically primed. Barkas (As much as I like him and have stuck up for him) needs to put on about a stone and a half in order to be a keeper able to endure the physicality of the game up here. Ajeti looks like he’s carrying a bit of timber and is that bit less sharp in his movement because of it. Duffy is blowing out his * after 20 minutes. If they’d entered any other club playing in European competition, you can bet your bottom dollar that would’ve been resolved by now. Even looking at the guys who were here under BR, they just look so much less robust and physically dynamic than they did a couple of years ago. Definitely stinks of an * operation as far as sports science and fitness is concerned behind the scenes but we shouldn’t be surprised that that has disappeared, after all we are almost two years removed from the excellent model that Rodgers had in place.

Jot to detail the thread into a political shitstorm, but it’s a bit like having a national leader who doesn’t believe in science.

Like, it’s not in any ways shape or form down to opinion. An understanding of these things and building them in to everything we do isn’t just a vague preference or dislike. You either recognsie them or fail badly.

Neil cannot take full blame for there fitness. Regardless of what he does with them on the training pitch, its also whats going on behind closed doors which could be an issue.

What are the players eating and drinking? What are there lifestyles like off the pitch? A few of the players look out of shape and not in top condition. That's not Neil's fault, he doesn't control what these lads are putting into there bodies

It is evident in our performances just now the team seem to physically tire and mentally switch of in games around the hour.

Lennon doesn’t help being slow to bring subs on to freshen things up particularly in midfield. It is mind boggling really, particularly when you just spent £5.5m on two centre mids that can’t get a sniff of game time in the last two windows.

Regardless of how the games going we tend to have a really poor spell in games around that time, if we are cruising up that point our opponent have a spell, if we are up against it we fall apart, or if the game is tight our play becomes ragged and lacks any sort of coordinated approach. It’s something that is really worrying and needs sorting out.

We're definitely no as fit as we were..

I watched Southampton against Newcastle and they pressed unbelievably well last night and at the heart of it was Armstrong..

He isn't great but we could be doing with some of his engine in the middle again..

That's just one player though who excelled under the rat. Our whole team was pretty fit and would run over the top of side's then..

We always look legless in every second half just now and it's a real battle just to keep a clean sheet..

yeah and if you dont lead by example or push these things like you know what your talking about, then the team under you start to lose faith and respect in the leader and 5% 10% of a loss of faith can be everything

cause ultimately were not all pulling in the same direction

im sure we all wish it would go away and we go on and win everything, get to the end of season and replace the manager and whatever else is causing disharmony

but the signs aint good, not reviewing performances after games every team does that its standard and how does the team learn whats working and whats not

id even suggest we bring another coach or coaches into help lenny wether he needs or wants the help but they have to be able to take the reigns if he quits, NL is struggling badly as is the team so something has to happen

maybe this motherwell result will be a turning point but weve said that quite a few times already this season and then the bad lacklustre performances stay and come back to haunt us

on the fitness i remember NL and other coaches to be fair saying things liek we do light training ticking over training when we have hectic schedules like 3 games in a wekk 12 games in a month e.t.c

but we havent been in times like this before a pandemic and all thse games back to back playing 3 games a week practically for the whole season the changed the rules allowing 5 substitutes because the high up football authorities seen that it was needed because thered be so many games and possible covid infections within squads

so isnt it possible the players aer just empty in stamina reserves from being played every 3 days for ages and not doing their regular training theve done for years that maintains fitness ???

The fact the players were given 4 days off after the semi is an absolute disgrace for a club of our stature. 1 day, absolutely, 2 days maybe, but 4 ffs?! No wonder we are off the pace. Amateurish imo.

Not literally, but the club certainly does for the most part. Or, it should.

The players will be told what foods to eat and what foods to avoid eating at what times in order for optimal performance. It was done under Deila and you can bet Rodgers did the same.

I'd imagine it's still the case with Lennon now. So yes, he doesn't feed the players by hand, but if any of them deviate from the given diet and take the * to the point they're unfit and/or overweight then they should be disciplined by the club and dropped until they wise up.

I doubt Lennon's control over things runs that deep anymore tbh. Things were set up that way under Rodgers and was in place when Lennon arrived (He commented on it at the time).

Nutrition and fitness specialists are all in place and Lennon will defer to them. He publicly slated Griffiths and binned him due to his fitness, he's not doing that if fitness isn't a priority.

As usual when things aren't going our way we've to light a fire to everything we are doing, everything is * and we need to rip it up and start again.

Once we go on a run of wins all the noise will fade away.

i think the nucleus of 1st teamers are being over played and their fitness/match fitness is not being managed properly

playing 3 times every week and talks in the past of not having the regular training regime in them times points to depleted stamina imo

    There is no fitness issue.

There is an attitude issue, from players, to coaches to the board it stems all the way through.

Also, clearly our training programme, physio work, facilities etc... Are not working properly either as we suffer way to many injuries

Did we actually give them four days off?

    For * sake!
What did we expect them to do for four * days? They cant leave their * houses, they'd go * nuts and 4 days in the house will equate to weeks worth of getting back in to shape again.

Lennon is a * joke of a manager.

Starting to wonder what is the * point in Lennoxtown at all? Just book out Barrowfield again and let them run around a muggy park, it seems to be the sum of what we are doing, why waste time and resources on a multi million pound state of the art complex, when the manager knows * all about how to utilise it.

Same goes for the academy side of things, is it Holyrood the younger lads were meant to be enrolled in when we brought lads from further afield? Did that all go down the pan? So much for Lennoxtown meant to help bring on the youth of the future and build us an academy the likes of La Masia and that at Ajax.

Rodgers, for all his faults in Europe and his rat faced nature, he at least understood the importance of these things and implemented a professional outlook in the club.

You may be right, I know it was a few years back, but I assume we would still be looking to keep that setup going today?
