He’s apparently up in the UK, you aren’t up in the UK if you are going to retire. Just because his agent isn’t being vocal doesn’t mean he isn’t working to get him a new deal. Might have something lined up but has been told he has to wait for the dominoes to fall. The fact the Everton rumour came out recently makes me think they are now trying to put pressure on to make something happen.

Posted a pic of training with Aus. I take it it’s a older picture.

It is. A repost from the Socceroos account. They are celebrating their centenary and are taking votes for Team of the Century.

Weirdest saga ever. I get the feeling he's kind of fallen out of with love with the game and probably hasn't been enjoying it that much for a few years now. When Ange came in he reignited his fire and we got arguably his best and most influential season, it just so happened to be his last.

I'd still take him back in a heartbeat but understand we've moved on. I just hope he finds a decent club somewhere because he's far too good and too young to be wasting away at a * level or not playing at all. La Liga would suit him down to the ground.

He never looked the fittest so what would he be like if he's not fully trained since May :old:

I don't know about falling out of love with the game, he didn't play last season like a man who had lost his fire for what he does. You could tell how much it still meant to him even from just his joy for his teamates when they scored.
We don't know what else is going on in his life I guess, might have more important things to worry about right now than football.

How do you figure that? The transfer window deadline doesn't apply to free agents/uncontracted players.

Because there is a world cup fast approaching and while it might not apply to free agents any free agent who is an international and whose country are competing who is not signed by the deadline can pretty much kiss goodbye to the world cup. Unless Tam is retiring then not having a club by thursday is inexplicable.

I was expecting him to get picked up before the window shut, but maybe he's just come too the conclusion his body isn't up to it any more and he's decided to call it a day. Sad if that turns out to be the case but it would be understandable considering the issues he's had through his career. It's not worth risking long term issues just to squeeze in another couple of years playing.

Hopefully it's not that and he's just waiting until the right move for him comes up. You'd have thought he'd have received some decent offers by now though.

He may well have received decent offers but if he is intent on taking a break or even retiring it's unlikley we would hear about them as there is no incentive in his agent leaking it.

If he is finished with football (and I hope not!) then at least he went out on a high and on his own terms. Respect.

That was kind of my point, I expect he's had decent offers and still hasn't taken anything, which is why I'm suspecting he's maybe decided to call it a day. But maybe he just hasn't had an offer that excites him so far, let's hope it's that.
