It does seem a bit odd that someone who was in TOTS and voted in the top 4 best players in the league is being released it’s looks like? Could be wrong. I’m not surprised he’s looking for a new challenge and I think we are trying to move up a level in Europe. But I’m sure we could’ve got a fee. 2 summers ago he was off to Qatar for £4m after not having the best season/injury issues. Maybe it’s a thank you from the club as being a free agent will make it easier for him to go where he wants. Still think we could’ve sold him for £3m if we wanted to.

PFA Men’s Footballer of the Year: Tom Rogic

Enjoying a renaissance at Celtic, Rogic helped spearhead the Hoops’ Championship-winning campaign under Ange Postecoglou, lifting the Scottish Premiership trophy and the Scottish League Cup in a return to career-best form.

On the way to the double, Rogic made 50 appearances in all competitions for Celtic, scoring six goals and assisting 10, before the ‘Wizard of Oz’, as he became known by the Celtic faithful, enjoyed an emotional farewell from Celtic Park earlier this month after a decade in Glasgow.

When available for Socceroos duty, Rogic translated his stunning club form for the green and gold, featuring in six matches for the national team and contributing to four wins via his influential play in Australia’s midfield.

Rogic said: “It’s a huge honour to be named the PFA Men’s Footballer of the Year. To win this award voted by all my peers is very special. It’s been a great year and I hope to be able to top it off with qualification for the World Cup with the Socceroos.”

Doubt very much we’re releasing him, reckon there’s a deal in place and will be announced when the transfer window opens. No way we’re letting him away for free when he has a year left on his deal.

Yeah hopefully not. Bitton is away for free with a year left though. He’s not as valuable as Rogic but you’d think someone would pay 500k-£1m for Bitton. He still has a lot to offer.

Celtic might be rewarding both for their loyalty and standing to the club by letting them go for free and paying out on their contracts. Given that neither had clubs lined up perhaps they weren't expecting this. I suspect Ange has told both they were not in his future plans. He's looking for a specific type of player. I'm still a wee bit baffled on the James Forrest new contract.

I think both have been given free transfers to go. You have to remember, the club can save like £2m a year annually on their wages. Club has probably looked at it and thought they can get new blood in the positions we need and save some money on salary.

Yeah I wouldn’t mind that they would both deserve it if it’s the case. Yeah I don’t see Forrest being used much so was puzzled at that too. But we have a bit of a habit of being loyal to players who have given a lot to the club but are on the decline. Brown for example, I think he was offered a new deal even though his last season he was miles of it.

Im sure Ange said in a few interviews that it is important to keep some staff and players who have been a part of the success and are what the club are all about.

Id imagine forrest knows he wont play as much and would have accepted a significant reduction in his wage. I can see Forrest retiring at celtic.
