There's no risk, he's going to sign a new deal, I've no worries about that at all.

This is the proceeds of success, Armstrong will be demanding top money now, that's obviously where the hitch is.

 

And as Ive said he should get it, it would cost way more to replace him plus the loss of a major asset, unless he isn't signing I honestly don't see the hold up.

 

Agreed, but we could be talking a 150% rise, going from something like £10k to £25k p/w.

Up to the club to decide if he deserves to be a top earner on the back of one exceptional season, and it looks like both parties may not quite agree on each other's valuations.

If it's not wages that are holding it up, could also be a release fee, but I see that as less likely. Rodgers has made it clear that there is a natural progression for players to move to better leagues and we have shown in the past that we will sell our best players on.

 

If he does bail especially after this season being offered vice captain he can get lot as far as I am concerned

During the POTY nominee interviews he seemed pretty optimistic about his future here.

I can't remember his exact words but he said something along the lines of 'loving it here under BR, nowhere else I want to be'.

 

I'm sure he'll sign a new contract but christ, how fecking long must it take to sort out? Bit mental that it's still not resolved.

 

That's some amount of time keeping us waiting if it's signed already..

 

It has placed the ball firmly in Armstrong's court so to speak , I still think he will sign but he is in a much better bargaining position than you would want, of a very influential player in our team who is reaching his peak , he is worth every penny we can afford to keep him here and happy , maybe a long contract and testimonial at the end if we are struggling to match terms .

 

There's various clauses in these contracts, it could be the slightest thing holding it up. Agent fee, sell on clause etc.

Obviously it would be great if he signed as he's come on leaps and bounds but I'm genuinely not worried about any of the squad leaving.

That's the confidence that the manager has instilled in me. Regardless of who leaves there will be a replacement of equal or better quality. The system and team ethic takes priority over any individual.

 

I wonder what the delay is?,if he plays a blinder against england I'd imagine there will be a lot of interest in him and get his head turned maybe end up having to sell
