    • Martin O'Neill never made it into the last 16 of the Champions League
    • Martin O'Neill spent more on his squad than Gordon Strachan has
    • Martin O'Neill had one of Celtic's greatest ever players at his disposal
    • Gordon Strachan has now became the first ever Celtic manager to win three league titles in his first three seasons, and is the first since Jock Stein to even have strung three together.

martin o'neill acheived 9 points (the amount of points WGS has got to the last 16 with) in the UCL many times
martin o'neill simply had a better squad and more class, he wouldn't have started players like brown, caldwell, donati etc
martin o'neill was unlucky to have lost the 2 of 5 leagues that were lost on the last day, one of which was gifted to the huns by dunfermline

He had more money to spend on the team, and it doesn't matter who has 'more class,' it's how much you get out of the players that matter. Gordon Strachan has definatly brought the best out of Gary Caldwell this year.

he was crap 75% of the season and was crap last season, M O'N also made a european class squad with that money and brought in a higher standard of player and most them brought out the best of their careers already being established players i.e. Neil Lennon, Thommo, John Hartson and also M O'N made so much youth players than WGS

I don't think that Martin O'Neill did have that much of a better team

    Boruc > Douglas
    Hinkel < Agathe
    Caldwell < Mjallby
    McManus < Baldé
    Naylor < McNamara
    Nakamura > Petrov
    Robson > Lambert
    Hartley < Lennon
    McGeady > Thompson
    McDonald > Hartson
    Hesselink < Larsson

    Subs...
Samaras, Brown, Wilson etc > Hedman Sylla Petta etc

    MON 6
    WGS 6

This is just my opinion of course, but I think that's great considering Martin spent a lot more.

I think WGS learned a lot this season, he made some mistakes & strange decisions but he finished the season strong. I think the team learned too & got their reward. Imagine what they could achieve next season, then no one could argue with the ginga ninja.

Who cares who is better, everyone will have a diffrent opinion, 2 good managers at diffrent times. Wonder what wgs would have done with a Larsson in his team tho, and £!8m to spend on only 3 players.

    More than 10 pages lol.

It doesn't matter how much money either one spent on their teams or how much better the huns teams they were against were or how unlucky we were because of cheats (*cough* dunfermline)

Martin had a better all-round team, but I prefer WGS style of football. MON's football was boring at times ~ mostly long-balls to Sutton and Hartson. Strachan has a more passing style which is much better to watch and much better suited in Europe ~ remember a lot of foreign referees always give fouls against Sutton leaning into defenders ~ silly I know but football in Europe is different ~ not as much focus on strength, more about technique.
Also on a budget and cutting costs WGS has built a team thats is strong and getting better and has a good mix of youth and experience. Also MON failed to solve a long-serving problem throughout his time at Celtic ~ the goalkeeper - or if you prefer the Rab Douglas - problem. Marshall should've played the final instead of dodgy Douglas.

In the end of the day WGS won 3 out of 3. And for me thats the most important thing - what they won...no excuses. There will always be some who favours MON whilst some WGS. But the truth is, WGS is the more successfull of the two. Might not necessarily be the better of the two, but based solely on achievement and on the job in hand, Strachan has been a better manager for us.

    SNOREDOM

I TAKE IT YOU MEAN AT CELTIC,,,or in general,,

    MON v strachan

    * it im not gonny go there,,,

but whats haveing players at MON"s disposal got to do with it,

or why are u bringing up the money spent, LOOK at the difference in performance and player with spending money" sutton legend" hartson legend" i take it u mean these 2 guys? i wont mention strachans signings in his first 2 years
celtic are where they are because of MON ,

but imnot geting involved as weve just won 3 in a row ,not pretty most of the time but its still 3 in a row

why start another thread on this ,these threads usually wait until the season starts or we have a bad run ect ect,,no one was saying anything, and now they start when peace has broken out

i dont think anyone can be botherd arguing about it just now

MON had 3 cracks at the UCL and only once achieved 9 points. Another apperance seen us get 7 and the last seen us finish bottom of the group.

MON is a cracking manager with unquestionable passion for Celtic, but the stats don't lie :) ONE GORDON STRACHAN!!

Better or otherwise, he's been more succesful at Celtic.

I'm a fan of Strachan's but i don't think you can say he is a 'better' manager then O'Neill, for Celtic yes and i suppose that's all we really care about.
