    They can be messy!

Why is it your asking this? I would imagine it's not like it's something of a choice.

A cousin of mine had one on after his spleen was removed after to many years on the soup and not looking after himself healthy!

Would you not suggesting better health so there's no need for one in the near future. All bad health can be reversed with change of lifestyle, diet and a better mindset!

    He replied:

“Basically everyone is different mate, once I got a stoma, after recovery etc I was in remission for a good few years and was able to get to do stuff I used to do.. But 6 years on, it's taken its toll physically and mentally. I'm defo not in as much pain as I was before the bag, and if I was to give advice to anyone who has been given the option having one or not, I would take the option of having one. I didn't have the option as it was a life saving op, and having the bag saved at that time, so in that way, it's the best thing I've ever done, and if I was given the option now, I wouldn't hesitate in saying yes.”

I’ve known 3 people with a stoma bag. In all cases it’s been a positive in their lives. All the negatives are straight after it’s done. Getting used to it and accepting that it will help greatly in the long run.

My Granda had one for 30 odd years and lived to 89.
