If I was to compare Stokes with Hooper id say

    Pace Hooper 7/10, Stokes 6/10
    Strength Hooper 7/10, Stokes 5/10
    Workrate Hooper 7/10, Stokes 6/10
    Playmaking Hooper 6/10, Stokes 8/10
    Passing Hooper 7/10, Stokes 7/10
    Finishing Hooper 9/10, Stokes 6/10
Long Shooting Hooper 6/10, Stokes 7/10
    Crossing Hooper 6/10, Stokes 7/10
    Vision Hooper 8/10, Stokes 8/10
    Movement Hooper 9/10, Stokes 6/10
    Positioning Hooper 8/10, Stokes 6/10
    Touch Hooper 7/10, Stokes 7/10
Ball Control Hooper 8/10, Stokes 6/10
    Link-up Hooper 8/10, Stokes 6/10
    Dribbling Hooper 5/10, Stokes 7/10
    Heading Hooper 5/10, Stokes 6/10

The stuff Stokes is better at isnt really that important, especially when up against tough opponents. When your up against tough opponents you have to think quick, act quick, drag them around and give them a hard time and you need to be clinical in your allround game, passing, shooting, keeping the ball - all stuff Hooper is really good at. Where as Stokes isnt a player who can lead the line, hes a second striker who likes to hover in behind a striker and take his time on the ball, take players on, attempt through balls or to * balls across the park, attempt to shoot from distance and just more or less create stuff but against good European class teams we just arent a good enough team to have that much time on the ball.

I like Stokes and I think if he was given a run in the SPL he could certainly end up top scorer in the league. But I havent seen anything to suggest that he is good enough to lead the line in Europe.

Every bit as good as Hooper imo and more than capable of leading the forward line next season. The few times Stokesy has played in Europe, he has played very well and that was as a lone front man. He would flourish in the CL. Would quite like to see this next season assuming Hooper and Wanyama move on

I'm sure he could get a similar amount of goals, but the assists are just as important. It's a dodgy situation right now. If i was a manager and i was looking at Hooper, i'd be thinking about signing Stokes too. That's the danger. Some guy comes in does a deal for Hooper, then offers Stokes a big deal too and keeps them together.

So the question is can Stokes score 2 goals in the qualifiers, i think he can. Can he score two goals in the group stages, probably. Can he score 19 goals in the league? Aye without a doubt because he's done it before.

I think we'd all love to see Hooper and Balde and Stokes together, then we're onto something big.

Hooper has only scored as many at celtic because of stokes. I wouldnt be surprised if the stats came out that stokes set hooper up with nearly 50% of his goals.

To be fair he has never been given a crack at the champions league so we don't know for sure.

I agree about the work rate also. I think Stokes' work rate is underated, I have seen plenty of fans say he is a lazy player which is utter bollocks for me. I have seen Hooper look uninterested just as many times, if not more, as Stokes, especially in the last season on a few occasions. Same goes for movement and link up play. At times when they are both there together it is incredible to watch them in action.

Another point that has to be remembered for me is that Hooper does not perform as well when Stokes is not up top with him.

I don't think anyone can say stokes isn't a good player and he`s shown talent all over but its been his lifestyle that's hindered at times and especially in a country like this where your higher profile for being an irish catholic ( sad but true ). I hope he signs his contract and knuckles down I think both himself and celtic will benefit greatly

I think he's worth a go wide left, especially in Europe, a bit like the way WGS converted Maloney and likewise as Lenny did with Samaras.

We'll never really know if he can compete in the champions league unless he gets a crack at it.

Because we would have to wait until January to find a replacement.

Stokes can be, and hopefully will become, a great player for us. But when both are on top form for me, Hooper is a lot better.
I think Hooper could be a top, top draw striker. Stokesy will always be in that rung below.

Hooper is a better striker by miles imo, better finisher and just has more of a knack for scoring goals.
