Grand old team to play for
Great to see a lifelong Celtic fan scoring our opening goal of the season on flag Day at a packed Paradise.

Always liked the lad...I've always thought he'd be one who could make it here from academy but that was largely due to the fact when his comparisons were during a lennon season of pure * and his counterpart being Duffy he always looked like someone who never really ever put a foot wrong and was just perfectly average.

He is definitely good enough to be 3rd/4th choice. I would absolutely love to see him become good enough to be a starter. He's tall, good in the air, and a decent passer - exactly what we need in there. But more than that, it'd be great to have another homegrown Tim in the team.

So long as supporters actually stay on his side and stop dismissing him after every mistake he makes, he'll do just fine here. Has the talent to be a useful player for us in the long-term.

I'd rather he was sick than be away. I know he's not the greatest but you need players like him in a league winning squad.

He's not going to move the earth but he's decent enough, especially at domestic level, he's not going to kick up a fuss for not playing week in week out and he's homegrown. He ticks a lot of boxes.

Stephen Welsh missed last weekend's Celtic win over Kilmarnock as he continued recovering from a virus.

The Hoops defender was ruled out of his side's previous clash with Ross County with the illness with the game coming just too quickly for the centre-half.

The 22-year-old was expected back for the Killie trip but ended up being left out of the squad entirely.

Football Scotland understands that is because the defender still hadn't fully recuperated.

We understand the player is now back in full training with his teammates.

Missing from the squad today, must have been a * of a virus. Feel for the lad had a good pre season and first game of the season, good opportunity to get a foot into the first team in Starfelts absence only for it to be derailed. Hopefully back in the squad soon.

With everyone fit, he won’t make the bench, Starfelt will be there, no way will we have 2 CHs on bench

Stephen Welsh picked up a knock - how is he?

He had a little bit of a niggle with his groin. He thought he could persevere and it got worse in the second half hopefully it is nothing too serious. Looking at it, it didn't look too bad and we will assess it tomorrow.

Was excellent last night, great distribution all night, confident to carry ball out of defense.
Of the 3 center halfs on show last night, he had the better game.
