:52: Looks like I'm even more uneducated that I thought.

No offence meant @Marty McFly but that looks absolutely vile :99:

Nearest I've been to anything like that is when my brothers were young and they used to mix their mince and mash together and add tomato sauce....disgusting looking plate of gunk.

    I'm with Scotia, I ain't eating that.

Got introduced to stovies when I was working in the East of Scotland. Absolutely loved them. OK they don't look appealing but they go down a treat with a big buttered outie and brown sauce. It was a weekly meal in most houses up there and not just a new year thing.

Aberdeen stovies are a million miles from Coatbridge stovies but both equally delicious. It's made with steak/beef up there and served with beetroot and oatcakes but I'm used to it with mince, totties and sausage with plain bread to dip in the gravy. A friend up there said they made it with leftover beef!! What the * is left over beef????

Anyway back on point, for the bells I have stew with the rest of the family having buffet type food, new years day is steak pie, home made farting peas, roast totties and homemade chocolate cake!

2nd Jan is slim fast shakes.

Nah its not really a stew as such, bit drier than that. Tatties are kinda 75% mashed for me and the rest still a bit of structure to them.

Obviously got a problem calling it that, it’s spilled over from the Duffy thread. The anti Irish bigotry in here is out of control. :fear:

Think people make it differently depending where you are from or got the recipe passed on.
