Iwata, Mooy, Oh, Abada and Haksabanovic off the bench. Tricky game on paper, but their form has been ropey recently, 3-1 us.

 

No way I'd bench Johnston after his performance on Sunday. I like the other 2 changes though! If Iwata starts at DM, I'd expect left-footed McGregor to be the LCM and right-footed Hatate the RCM.

 

Please no repeat of last visit there…

Put these * back in their box. I have no qualms with CCV starting this time.

 

Same starting line up as Sunday. Get the match won then make the changes. Our only league defeat this season came when we made too many changes to the starting line up and it was against the Buddies.

 

Time for Hakšabanović to get a start, looked very lively and direct when he came on in the final.

 

Tough match. Tough venue. St M for their credit have been very tough to beat at home this season - pretty sure they've only lost the 2 games there - opening day v Motherwell and a few weeks ago v Hibs. For a club like St M to have a home record like that is pretty impressive and that you have to acknowledge that Stephen Robinson is doing something right there.

Obviously the only domestic game we have lost this season was St M away back in Sept, and even last seaosn we were held to a draw there (albeit both teams had depleted squads due to covid around xmas time), but none the less, it's proven a tough away day, so absolutely cannot have any complacency.

 

We’ve got to get back on it straight away. No time for cup winners hangovers, need to keep our 9 points, the huns will falter soon and we need to be their to crush any last hope out of them.

They haven't been that great in the last 5 games, gotten 7 points from the 3 opponents who got red cards and lost to the 2 teams who didn't but they are difficult at their ground. I'm still confident.

 

Yep, and I would rather white socks with a thick green stripe on the turnover rather than those 50s striped socks. It makes our boys look shorter in the current strip.

 

Would like to see Oh on in the 60th min. Let the lad have an extended run. He has good ball control,is intimidating and is a tank ! Time for him to start scoring goals and we need to nurture Kyogo more because his enthusiasm can wear him down and we do not want him breaking down like last season. Let's have more aces in the pack up front.

 

Agreed. I also think we need another left back similar to Johnston. That would really make us better prepared for Europe.
Bernabei at present is good for domestic games only and needs more time to develop. That position makes us susceptible to good European right wingers and Taylor plays a lot of games and we do not want him breaking down or getting injured long term. It's an open door to defeat that we need to shutter and lock.

 

Not particularly logical, but the cup final feels like a bit of a break point in the season, so this feels like a bit of a chance to change things up a bit. Not too much bearing in mind the last time we went there but a good chance to give a couple of other players a start
