CELTIC are tracking £4.5million-rated Paris FC striker Silas Wamangituka.

SunSport understands manager Neil Lennon watched the DR Congo hitman against Valenciennes on Monday night.

Wamangituka, 19, is attracting interest from several top French clubs, Fiorentina and Hamburg after an impressive debut season in Ligue 2.

Both Liverpool and Barcelona scouts have also watched highly-rated striker in recent months.

But Lennon this week made a personal visit to Paris to see Wamangituka in action.

He drew a blank in the 0-0 draw against Valenciennes — but has bagged nine goals in his first full season as a pro.

Celtic are searching for a new striker, with loanees Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah set to depart this summer.

The USA forward could yet return from PSG but the French club are likely to wait until the end of the transfer window before deciding.

Celtic are continuing to look for permanent signings and Lennon is taking a leading role — despite his future being uncertain.

Wamangituka only joined Paris FC last summer after a season with French fifth-tier outfit Ales.

The powerful frontman came through the Black Mountain Sport Academy after being spotted playing on the streets of Congo as a kid.

The teenager still has two years left on his deal but the Ligue 2 side are expected to cash in on him this summer.

Agent Olivier Belesi confirmed Wamangituka has several options — but will choose his next move carefully.

He said: “We are a team working on a daily basis for his well-being.

“We are here to protect him from sharks and opportunists, to preserve him from all temptations.

“There is a lot of talk around him but we do not care about that.

There are big clubs interested but we manage all of this quietly, without pressure.

“Silas has the potential and the qualities to go higher and that is why we will make no mistake with the project we propose.

“We keep Silas focused on the field. The boy is attached to Paris FC and they have helped his progress.

We are focusing on the rest of the season and the rise of his team.

“The rest? We will examine all proposals and give our decision when the time comes.”

Clearly saw my post in the suggestions thread :fear:

I could see us playing with two strikers next year, and with Bayo still an uncertainity a striker to rotate with griffiths or start with eddy would be good.

How is Bayo any more of an "uncertainty" than this proposed new signing who you want starting with Eddy?

I'm talking about signing another striker in general to rotate with Griffiths and Eddy, i'd prefer we sign a more experienced player than this boy but it's good we're looking into these markets.

Unless we're going to be playing 2 up top more often then another striker is a long way down the list of priorities.

I still think we definitely need a new striker. We badly lack an instinctive, aggressive pressing number 9..

Edouard could do with a partner and played some of his better stuff off the left. Bayo is still early and unknown and no one knows if Griff can get back to his best..

I agree, I'm going on the basis that Griffiths can get himself fit and firing again. I just can't see how we could give them all game time with 4 strikers in the squad.

    I wouldn't be surprised if Bayo get's 6-12 month's loaned out..

Would maybe loan him to the sheep or something to see what he's got..

Wouldn't mind keeping him but before his injury he got fuckall game time and wasn't exactly smashing it for the reserves. Would've been perfect getting him some minute's when the league's wrapped up but he's injured so that's that *..

Can see him going out possibly..

Think we deffo need at least 1 striker in..

It's really hard to know what to expect with Griff mate. Only thing I will say is that he can't really be too fussy if he does come back good but is third in line considering how much the club have stuck by him. I think he'll just be happy to be back in and about it which is good for all parties..

Boy looks a talent from the clips I’ve seen.

Looks quite similar in style to Edouard, fast and skilful.

He's probably worth the £4.5 million solely for the comedy factor of hearing his name butchered a thousand different ways in pubs before the game.
