Should we have a hall of fame for past managers/players/coaches/chairmen etc, an elite club of people who have contributed so much to Celtic on or off the park. It's something we don't really do in football at all.

Like induct 5 people or something a year in a fans vote and have a ceremony for them? I think it would be a great idea to really honour the true greats.

5 a year is far too many.

However, at the opening I'd have 25, as voted for by the fans. The Lions would be there obviously, the likes of Tommy Burns and Danny McGrain etc. after that? One a year.

    Yes we should IMO.

Opening a can of political worms right enough but there are a number of people who more than deserve to be immortalised in a Hall of Fame.

    Cracking idea.

I can see the wheels turning in Lawwells head too... "Awards dinner = money! We could have a phone vote too! Oh the earning possibilities!" :smiley-laughing002:

Problem is if you had it as a fans vote it would end up being heavily skewed towards the Lisbon Lions era and onwards when there would be a lot of players from 1888-1967 period who would deserve to go in ahead of some popular players from the later time.

Then split the vote then. Two sections, pre/post war.

Then you have your Willie Maleys and Jimmy McGrory's picking up a deserved spot.

agree we should start with about 25 and then 1 a season.

dont know how you could split the lions, the whole squad would have to go in at the start plus big jock

Something they do in the NHL is raise jerseys to the rafters. Clubs will retire numbers of the legendary players that have played for the club, then once a number has been retired it can't be used anymore. Obviously this wouldn't work with football since 1-10 is used so much but something along these lines could work where certain players have their names numbers on display somewhere in the stadium in a kind of Ring of Honour thing.

Like the actual Scottish football hall of fame have an automatic entry if you reach a certain amount of appearances or goals. Like 300 apps or 100 goals?
