I can’t believe how bad he has been since we got him.

I am hoping he can turn it around but he looks like a bus trying to turn and for a big guy seems * in the air in our own box.

As a world renowned football manager once said

The dogs keep barking and the caravan moves on.. ( very slowly, pulled by Shane Duffy )

We dropped 0 points to Hamilton and Aberdeen as a result of our defenders being bullied by their big strikers last season.

Granted We did drop 5 points to livi as a result of dykes giving jullien a torrid time but, as previously mentioned, he's now at QPR and it can probably be said now that he actually looks like a pretty decent player and not just a big target man type.

Ambrose is like Cannavaro compared to Shane Duffy.

I hope your right. We play a much higher line than the likes of Brighton though so there will always be space to exploit his lack of pace whether it be a 3 or 2. Luckily Scottish football isn't rife with pacey forwards and he'll have Frimpong/Elhamed or Ajer to bail him out if he's struggling. But if he doesn't improve between now and Julien returning, then he should be dropped.

Infact, if he doesnt improve ASAP, Bitton should take his place

Bitton is a much better option imo.

Bitton never seems to let us down when he plays, also never seems to panic and strolls through a game and that’s usually when he hasn’t played for several weeks beforehand and not up to total speed, came in for the Hibs game against a Hibs team scoring for fun on a high after drawing with rangers, guy never put a foot wrong

mr reliable, should be rewarded with a run in the team

Right now, with 3 center halfs out, we have no option but to run with Duffy, so hopefully he can come good. In a back 4 of Jerry, Duffy Ajer and Lax, he will find his feet.

For such a big powerful guy he does not impose himself on attacking players enough. In possession he takes far to long on the ball before hitting a pass. He doesn't dominate defensively like you would expect a player of his stature to do. He needs to be imposing himself on opposition players more. Hopefully things will pan out for the big guy sooner rather than later.

I've given him some amount of pelters here but will see how he does tomorrow. As part of a 4, maybe he can win me back.

    Mon big man

Needs to get a grip, poor against the huns and absolutley awful against AC Milan although I think he's been mismanaged also.

Came in this season from playing no football for a long time and no pre-season and has started every game every midweek and weekend since. A lot to ask for a big heavy player who's just getting back to full fitness.

Should have be being dipped in and out a bit until he is up to speed. Tomorrow will be his 13th start in 43 days when he had barely played football in 2020.

Neil Lennon has told critics to lay off star signing Shane Duffy and insisted he’s not to blame for Celtic’s dodgy defensive displays.

Lennon’s side have shipped eight goals in nine games since Duffy’s arrival from Brighton.

The Irishman came under fire for sub-standard performances in defeats to Rangers and AC Milan last week but Lennon has revealed he needed emergency dental work just 24 hours before the Old Firm clash.

He also insists Duffy has been thrown in at the deep end in the absence of Christopher Jullien, Hatem Abd Elhamed and Nir Bitton and Lennon is convinced the 28-year-old will be a stalwart this season.

He said: “Shane didn’t play any football for nine months. All of a sudden he’s played 14 games in about five weeks.

He played all of the games for Ireland then he had an abscess in his mouth that was giving him a lot of pain.

He flew back into Glasgow last Thursday, had some emergency dental work and we had to roll him out on Saturday against Rangers.

He played on Thursday night but we’re curtailed in that he’s got no Bitton, Jullien or Elhamed beside him.

“In the main, his performances have been pretty consistent.

“I know he’s under a bit of scrutiny because people are looking at him for some of the goals we’ve lost but we can’t pinpoint that on Shane. It’s a collective effort.

“As the season unfurls and goes along, he’ll play a huge part and he’s a good type as well. We also have to remember that these boys are away from home.

This isn’t like the big lockdown where they were able to go home and visit their families.

“They’re in at training and then they’re restricted in where they can go.

“Shane will eventually revel in the pressure of
playing for Celtic but he’s only just in the door.

“He’s been thrown in without any real pre-season. He’ll get better and better and he’ll be a stalwart.

“The criticism of the team is justified at times, I get
it. But some of it on individual players is unfair.”
