I know, its nonsense. His passing from the back has been fine since he joined.

    * me, folk are a bit touchy in here and on the defensive :56:

People are allowed to make an observation that his passing was poor this afternoon

And that is taking nothing away from all the great stuff he does, which I agree with on all points.

Don't like him so far to be honest. Can't pass the ball and gets caught out too often. His aerial presence at set plays is decent tho

We knew what we were getting when we bought him. A big bruiser of a defender that won't let forwards bully us as has been a big weakness of ours and some who provides a threat at the other end also a weakness with only Julien being any real threat.

When asked "what do people expect Maldini" We get the reply nobody expects that. Really. We need to deal with the fact he's not a great passer and appreciate what he does bring

Correct. 3 duffys as a back 3 would be terrible but put him next to better footballers either side is the point. Bobo couldnae pass a ball but would go through a brick wall for the team. Duffys the same.

We have ball playing defenders as it is, he can release to ajer, Jullien or Bitton depending who's on and let them play the ball.

He's an aggressive, old school defender who does well defending.

There was one little glimpse of him that got me thinking that we hadn't seen someone one attack a ball like that in years and it on the first half think it. Got a running start against an attacker close to half way line then leaped and clattered the ball away with his heid like a bullet. Went off for a thrown on but still.... Was good to see

Turnbull looks like he take a corner aswell so can see a few goals for the bigman from that. About time we had somebody who can take corners tbh

I think he's actually been decent in the centre of that back three, so I don't understand the criticism too much?

He wins absolutely everything in the air, and although he lacks pace he usually gets himself in the right position to deal with a situation before it develops into something potentially dangerous. Also, it's obvious to see he's a massive threat at set pieces.

I know he's not a great passer but teams are setting up against us to allow the back three the ball and blocking off passes into the midfield. When Duffy has the ball his options are pretty limited and to be honest trying to hit a diagonal pass every now and then isn't the worst idea- the problem is he doesn't seem to be very good at them! The alternative is to keep playing short passes side-to-side until a gap opens to thread a pass through the middle- but that's not his strength either.

Second backroom staff member in Irish set up to test positive. Aaron connolly and Adam idah pulled from squad hour before kick off. If it had been Duffy that be another one gone for 17th.. crazy times

I think he was MIA for much of the match, I just hope he's a bit more lively on the 17th

Made some really good tackles I thought tbh. And yeah I’m sure he’ll be well up for it and get stuck into them *
