Whenever I saw Erik, he looked very fast.

doesnt need speed and pace, if can read the game, and sviatchenko can read the game seen that last year, pace isnt everything if can read the game and situation that one step ahead

Pace is not top priority. Ambrose is a very quick centre half but absolute poison. Duffy and Erik would be a good partnership imo. Think we would lose far fewer goasl from set plays and crosses with two centre halves who can head a ball and will challenge in the air

I know he is a big tim but that shouldn't be the priority here.

If we punted 2 CB's and brought in someone else alongside him I'd be more open to the idea.

I just don't fancy him as our only buy for back there. We need better, IMO.

It is actually important to have a real feeling for the club. Obviously you need the ability first and foremost, but an understanding of what Celtic are as a club, a real passion, is obviously a good thing.

He's not the quickest but I wouldn't cal him slow either. He's not a liability in terms of pace in my opinion, not like he's mollasses at the back. Obviously a quicker CB would be preferable but if Duffy has Erik's pace I think thats more than fine.

Rumours from Derry based posters on the HB that Duffy is going to a Premiership club.

Aye he's not exactly slow either and his reading of the game makes up for it. I think that pace is a big factor in football though, and I'd prefer one of the centre backs was relatively quick. Particularly with Lustig not having much pace.

Probably suit a team like West Brom or Stoke. Looks a kinda big rough defender not really what we've been used to.

It is obviously a good thing but it is nowhere near a priority when looking at a player.

    I'd take him tbh.

We're lacking a big hard * in the side.

Punt Ambrose and bring in this guy.

At 2 million he would be a very good signing I think.

We have seriously lacked that type of player in our side, definitely last season anyway. Someone who will literally run through brick walls for the team and is a genuinely good defender. Ideally we would have two centre halves who are comfortable at playing out from the back but we need solid defenders first and foremost, along with characters and I think he'd be both. He's only 24, and had a set back with a major injury so I reckon there's scope for a lot of improvement with him as well.

If we had Erik, Jozo, Duffy, Mulgrew and Boyata to choose from at centre half I'd be very happy. Add Sinclair, another striker and possibly a CM and it will have been a quality window.

He just seems a bit slow and cumbersome, that is the impression I get.

I dunno, as I say if Ambrose is punted I'd take him as a squad option but...I think we can do better. Even for £2m. We got Erik for 500k less.

    That's my thoughts as well.

Looks like a bit of a bruiser which is good to an extent, but not sure if he's good enough on the ball for my liking. I'd rather we had someone comfortable on the ball. I just hope Simunovic gets back to full fitness sharper than expected because I have high hopes for him.

That's why Kolo Toure, for me, is the perfect signing right now. Someone with buckets of experience who is still more than good enough for us, can be used as a rotation player while Jozo can get more minutes on the pitch.
