I like him at centre half.

Got scoffed at by some for suggesting him to play there but I think it suits him best now. Good positioning, decent on the ball and decent in the air.

I think Lustig is a solid centre half, if we play a back four though I would want him right full. Janko gives me the fear.

Rodgers isn't an idiot. Toure, Sviatchenko, O'Connell, Simunovic when fit all at his disposal. Throw in Boyata and Ambrose and Ajer/Lustig as cover if needed, and thats already 6 dedicated CB's without Ajer and Lustig. Even if we sell Ambrose and Boyata we'd still have 5 plus Ajer and Lustig. Really can't see Rodgers wanting Duffy in. He said he wanted 2 players in and De Vries was one of them. Can't see another CB being that next signing.

I think I was one of them. Just didn't see the fit with him there as he's quite a skinny frame and those legs:smiley-laughing002:
Been impressed with him in the middle though. Very cool defending and playing out from the back..

I didn't think I would. It's good to know we've got that option now though..

Aye, still much prefer him at right back. He's a good outlet and has quality going forward..

Still number 1 on the right, but want him to choose his runs carefully from now on..

I wouldn't have prioritised a defender either, especially a cb, when lustig and izzy are so near the ends of their use to us, but I can't help but notice our defence has killed us for the last 2 years, shipping a goal a gane on average. Lose Tourre and we're back on that boat again, so naybe it's not so silly... 10 defenders (lustig, janko, Tourre, Sviatchenko, Simunovic, O'Connell, duffy, boyata, tierney, izzy) is a lot, but not actually that excessive given we're going to play (hopefully) something like 60 games in the year... most would be young and improving together too hopefully.

Not against this move at all, per se. Would've preferred a kick-* midfielder though...

Edit: 3 keepers, 9 defence, 10 midfield, 4 strikers would be how I'd like to see the team, with a half dozen of the development players breaking in. If we counted O'Connell as development, and of course punted Ambrose, that number would be right, including duffy

If we got shot of Simunovic and brought in Duffy i think we would majorly regret letting Simunovic go.

Well, if duffy turned out blinding none of us would be too bothered how good Simunovic got to. But I tend to agree. I think there's potential in Simunovic to be something special. But buying for 3, selling for 5 abd replacing for 3 again in a single, unfruitful year isn't exactly bad business...

    Is that you, Finny?

:smiley-laughing002: Nah I doubted him at Centre back. He's shown up well though

I was right and you were wrong. :86: Nah but seriously he suits it more now I feel. I think Janko is learning game by game and will continue to do so. The fact he is so obscenely fast might allow him to get away with making a few blunders here and there defensively.:smiley-laughing002: It is all part of developing as a young player, we have to accept that.

I'd have genuine worries of playing Lustig at RB too often due to the fact that if we come up against someone with a good bit of pace he could be ripped to bits out wide. May get away with it more domestically.

    Ad hominem

He was clearly on the wind up last night.

As if he's going to get pished at a concert or be out late at a concert and then the next day sign for us and complete a medical.

Thankfully this can be filed under pish.

Don't get the clamour for him. We are well covered at CB now with about 7 players who play there regularly or can fill in if req. should move onto more
Pressing roles such as a creative midfielder and another experienced physical striker to give us further options up top.

Having never been entirely sure on this, I was leaning towards it earlier in the window.

Now, however, I don't see the point. On top of Toure, Sviatchenko, Simunovic and Lustig we still have Boyata and Efe, who despite not really being totally sure on(Efe definitely must go) need to be punted before we bloat that area again.

There is also O'Connell and McCart, who I genuinely would rather give a go than Duffy.
