Hmm, don't know too much about him but from what I've seen I've been impressed. Is this showing at the Euros just a purple patch though? Or is he consistently reliable at club level aswell? If so, get the lad in!

I haven't seen a whole lot of him but I've been impressed whenever I have.

He nearly died while training before either while with Ireland or Everton, lost 3.5 litres of blood in a freak accident, something to do with his liver. That must have been when he was about 20 so four years ago. He's done really well to bounce back from that. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I'd love any of him, McClean and Hendrick from the Ireland squad at Celtic. Others I'd like are Long, Coleman and Walters but don't think they're as realistic as the other three.

I wouldn't rate the chances as particularly high tbh. I don't think we would pay what is required mate.

We could probably get Hendrick for what we would probably stretch for to get Allen so I don't think he is that out of reach. Just comes down to whether Brendan would be willing to use that much of the budget for a player he doesn't know first hand

Would love to see him here though

I honestly don't think the fee for Hendrick would as astronomical as many make it out to be. He's been at Derby his whole career, they haven't had Premier League success in awhile, and with his Euro performances his stock will have risen and he could move on. I would think he's getting his fair share of admirers and if we could snag him for around £4 million, I think that'd be a fair deal for Derby and us. Think he'd love to come to a club with European aspirations and a fresh start under BR. If the long shot that Joe Allen comes doesn't happen, I'd be very pleased if we went for Hendrick.

As for Duffy, never seen him play for Blackburn and haven't seen him or noticed him for Ireland at the Euro's. Good, strong Irish boy by the looks of his transfermarkt page, decent experience. Everyone here seems to think he ad Erik would pair nicely, so why not?

Don't think he is all that great.

Bit awkward and gangly looking. I'm not just saying that due to him being sent off either.

We all know surely not to judge a player on 3 or 4 games at an international tournament.

Do think he is that great in any realistic context.

A Giant but not remotely gangly, on the contrary he is very strong and can jump, a determined player and a nightmare for defenders in set pieces.

He is only 24 and will improve further, so unfortunately it's unlikely Celtic will be able to afford the fee or his wages.

    Great if somehow Celtic do.

    Agree
but doubt either are buyable right now, Hendrick will surely have been spotted by managers in the silly money EPL.
Linekar was raving about him in Sweden match

Robbie Brady is the one seriously under rated Irish player.

Worth a billion compared to 3 mice England players

He wouldn't be our best centre back at all.

He isn't better than Sviatchenko and it is debatable whether he's even a better alternative to Mulgrew.

I agree with this, Blackburn fan at my work isn't really a fan of his at all and thinks we could do a lot better.

This one doesn't excite me at all, was far more up for big Kolo Toure tbh. I'm not sure we should be going for Duffy at all and think we should look elsewhere at CB.

He also got man of the match against switzerland, never put a foot wrong against holland in the run up to euro 2016 and has looked a threat from set pieces throughout. He will very very rarely be beat in the air, and hes a hoop. Why sign kolo toure a rich mans ambrose at the end of his career when you can get a player 11 years younger with similar ability and who knows what it means to pull on the hoops

Duffy is a big strong boy probably needs someone with pace playing along side him, mon rates him, so i think he may be a player. His obvious weakness would be a lack of pace his temperament seems very good.

Sviatchenko isn't the quickest so I'd rather we sign a centre half with pace.

I thought that myself, I wonder what is the state of play with simonivic, and if he has a future at the club.
