I’m not 100% convinced by him either.

The odd time he's in his stride, pulling an attacker's shoulder in sheer panic...he looks like has some pace..

He looks ridiculously slow, 1 paced and clumsy looking more often than no for me though..

Oh I didn't know Boyata is 28, I thougtht he was young too. I still wouldn't get rid this window though cause as a defender he's solid, wish Brendan would tell him he doesn't have to pass out from the back. It's crazy to ask someone to do something the categorically can't do I mean he's probably played footbaal near enough every day for 23 years and if he's not able to do it by now he's never going to.

If we paid it all upfront, yes. If it's about 4 or 5, rising to 7 on performance/criteria, then no. Remember that he could be worth about 15m in a years time if he settles and performs at CL level. Its all about risk/reward balance...

I wouldn’t even want to pay £4m in total, but I’d be more than happy to be totally wrong about this guy. I just believe we can find better elsewhere.

Maybe true, maybe not... Im not 100% on it myself. Also, id normally say trust Brendan, but his defensive decisions and signings have been very suspect at times...

Thing is, we're all fast to say "just pay what they want" when its foreign players, but if we look at it from an Aberdeen perspective -

Hes the centrepiece of their defense, hes one of their best young players, hes a full international, theyll consider him one of their countries best players in that position and they know from reporting and meeting us just how much money we have vs how desperate we are. Add that we're their direct competitors.

Why wouldn't they ask/demand his maximum value from us? All hassle is on us to get them down, or happy with a compromise. Difficult sell...

Id have him purely on the belief that Celtic should always have at least one Scottish CB (Hendry doesnt count) and i think McKenna is the best of a bad bunch. No more than £4 mill though.

Why doesn’t Hendry count, your criteria includes him. :67:

    Good point.

We should also remember that while the £1.2 million we spent on Hayes looks like money down the drain, he could be worth multiples of that if his face settle down and Versace put in a bid for him to do the Milan Catwalks.

Ffs not the mckenna pish again.cant we find a good dependable defender in europe scandinavia etc.my grandson was on transfermarkt and found free agents with good stats and relatively injury free in a few minutes.now if our scouts cant find better than mckenna they should * right off .this is looking awfully like the last window pish.on another note may i thank my daughter kerry for my xmas present.the celtic tour.was superb.i already had been on a tour back in 1988 when my dad wrote to billy mcneil and we were invited to tour the stadium before tours were the norm.anyone who hasnt done the tour book it now you wont be dissapointed.

Only if they're better than other targets we could get for similar money.

MoN's backline of Balde, Valgaeren & Mjallby was probably the strongest I've seen in my lifetime and none of them would've been having a black pudding supper & glass bottle of Irn Bru's growing up.

Why? As pointed out, our best side this side of the millenium that reached a European Final didn't have a Scottish defender. Should have benched Bobo for Lee Wilkie?
