Ultimately the decision for him, made by the club, should be a 1 year transitional season with a new manager and the handover to Calmac of the captaincy or go and coach (or play/coach) elsewhere.

His issue is the landscape at Celtic is going to entirely change over the next few months and it’s impossible for him to envision what his role is going to be without knowing the direction we’re heading in.

Only if he agrees to a big wage cut. Paying 35k a week to sit on the sideline is money that could be invested elsewhere.

This is all part of the reason why this season has been such a disaster in my opinion. Brown is able to dictate whether or not he is offered a new milllion pound contract. * is that all about? It’s all too comfortable and cozy for a lot of these players.
We need a clear out and need more players like Turnbull who are hungry and desperate to prove themselves.
Getting rid of Brown would be a clear signal to other players that things are going to change.

Love Broony but he's finished and was part of the problem this season.

Just read we are about to offer him a year extension. Am baffled. It's clear as day he is well past his best. What is even more baffling is who is making these decisions!? Is this lawell's last flurry of micromanagement before he goes? Make sure that everyone is looked after before a fresh thinker enters the building?

I'd be happy for Dermot to veto all club decisions until either a new manager or a d.o.f is appointed. We need someone to start taking accountability for the decisions we are making. Taking the credit when it's a good move forward and the criticism when it's poor decision. At the moment decisions are being made left right and centre and non of us truly know who is making these decisions, we are just left suspecting it's lawwell

Don’t care how much of a character he is, the guy can barely turn round. Times up ffs.

Why are we the only club in world football that does this? Embarrassingly clinging on to the past.

We’re meant to be a big club and we act as if we’re Auchinleck Talbot. Hanging on to a guy because he’s good in a dressing room. We’re Celtic for * sake.

Go out and get a replacement for someone who is nowhere near good enough for where we need to be.

Hope we aren’t offering him a new deal. McGregor should be taking over captaincy in the summer, he’s done it before, learnt a lot from Brown over the years theirs no reason he can’t do it.

If he is getting an extension it better be on a VERY LOW RATE of PAY as he is no longer value for money at his current rate. Would offer him £10k a week for a final year.

Irony/potential hypocrisy doesn't actually change the validity of his point though, does it? He's exactly right: keeping Broony around another season would offer us next to nothing; other players have leadership and strength of character about them. Also 'continuity' would be had through the likes of McGregor and other strong characters staying on.

I've loved him over the years, but he's more than done.

Dont see McGregor as a captain me self,ye he has the passion but imo not the presence.Guess its hard to say but if we are rebuiding id wait to see who we bring in,and yes id give it to a new guy if he fits the position.

Hilarious how much this country goes on about how important winning is for a young players development when we’re a complete backwater.

You’d think after decades and decades of complete failure people would realise that it’s a complete pile of pish.

Show him the door in May as he won’t be good enough for us next season , his motivational skills seem to have deserted him this season , sorry Broony but time to move on while you are still respected as a Celtic legend .

He has been a fanatic servant to the club but his time is up.

We would be taking a step backwards if he is offered a new deal.

We need to move forward and Brown shouldn’t have any part in that.
