SCOTT BROWN last night defended Celtic’s trip to Dubai - including the “down-time” with gaffer Neil Lennon.

The Hoops fielded a shadow team against Hibs last night with 13 players self-isolating after Christopher Jullien tested positive for Covid-19.

Skipper Brown, speaking after the return from the UAE on Friday, said: “Everyone is going to question everything - that’s the modern-day era.

"Everyone has a say in everything we do these days.



We got the okay from the government and we made sure we followed the guidelines from there.

"We went out and worked hard on training - that’s what the whole thing was for us.


People don’t see our training daily or see how hard we worked.

"Sometimes you’re allowed to sit on the sunbeds and have some down-time as well.


What we do away from the cameras in training is for us to benefit in games.

"As you’ve seen in the last three or four seasons, we’ve come back from Dubai and done really well because we work extremely hard.

“It’s all about the preparation for the next five or six months of the season.


The manager’s philosophy, which he puts on to us, is how we can work in different ways and different shapes.

We worked on that all week and that’s what Dubai has been for us in the last three or four seasons now.”

The fact they included that the positive cases and close contacts could have happened in Scotland, showed their guilty conscience over the Dubai trip.

The biggest victory we could achieve this season now isn't the Scottish Cup, it is finally getting change at the club.

Peter's usual spin jobs and squirrels won't save him this season. The whole club needs gutted.

 

The club's detachment from the supporters is becoming truly disgraceful. I know this is the trend in modern football, but it shouldn't be the case at a club like Celtic. Scott Brown should be careful what he says and not come across as another apologist for the unforgiveable. The message we're being consistently given is that the club is bigger than the support. There's really only one way they'll learn that this isn't the case, but most of us are born to being Celtic people, it's stamped on us, and they understand this, and are complacent because of it. We are being completely taken for granted, as though we have no right to ask the questions that need to be asked and answered.

 

This is the part that is totally wrong. Julien would have had no contact with people at the club during that week as would have been at home resting. Would it not only be an additional 2 players that would have been close contacts the way we train in groups of 3? I've not heard of any team that had a positive test having more than 2 out as close contacts.

 

Sick of hearing about how this Dubai trip has worked in the past.

Global pandemic this time. Not a winter break this time. They went for what, 3 or 4 days? What’s the * point.

At least we won’t have to hear about how it’s worked before when they go away again next year.
