If his game time is managed properly, he may well play on beyond next season.
Many great players have played on till their late 30's in the EPL.
But agree, he will be so difficult to replace. Actually dreading the day we line up in the tunnel at Ipox and he is missing.
Relatively easy to replace a player but difficult to replace a leader.

I think McGregor is the natural replacement. Not a scruff of the neck style player but leads by example. I think we already have our physical replacement for Brown in Christie.

I couldn't agree more with these two points, if we continue to play Brown 3 games a week then inevitably when the big games come around there will not be the high level of performance for these games. I felt this was evident in the Copenhagen away game during the second half where the full midfield fell out the game but Brown tired really badly. Bringing in the likes of Soro or dropping McGregor back and playing Christie, Rogic or Ntcham as a two in front in games at home should not be an issue where we are dominating the game.

I believe it is the leadership qualities that will be missed most now, Brown still puts in a number of good displays throughout a season but there are a number of games where as mentioned above someone could easily slot in from a footballing sense and do as well.

I believe this is where Lenny and the management team and Brown himself need to be honest with each other to ensure we get the best from Brown when we need it. You can understand a top player like Brown wanting to play every game knowing he is reaching that stage of his career but this also has to be about what benefits the team as a whole. Playing Brown three times a week, week in week out until his legs go benefits no one as we will eventually be faced with him not being available at all and having not prepared for this.

The idea of him leaving is based on him now being in the final year of his contract as much as anything else. It wouldn’t surprise me if he wanted to go out on top, lifting the 10, and enjoy a few years making some extra money in somewhere a bit sunnier than the west of Scotland.

Like you say, he’ll be sorely missed when he does go. Replacing his leadership qualities will be a much more difficult task than we usually face when a big name leaves.

He's got quite a young family, I'm not sure how much the uprooting would tempt him at 35.

Celtic are putting him through his coaching badges at the moment and when he signed his last deal he was more or less promised a coaching job - if he wants it - when he hangs up his boots. We'd be mental not to use a guy of Broony's personality, experience and mentality if he wanted to stick around.

    He's not going anywhere.

He'll go for the 10. Then join the coaching staff.

His influence will still be there and his physical replacements are already in place.

    Nuffin tae worry about

Isn’t he also involved in some of the youth coaching?

He loves us and we love him. As long as he's part of Celtic at any level I think his presence will be felt and that's always going to be positive.
