He's definitely looked off the boil in games, face it he aint Peter Pan, and a replacement strategy needs put in place to phase him out perhaps into a coaching role..Ajer is 100% our next captain as he wont take * from players and gives it all.......

Thought he strolled it, controlled the game, picked up every 2nd ball.

Nothing spectacular but nowhere near poor either.

Maybe poor was the wrong choice of words, but I thought he looked every bit a 34 year old on a pitch full of younger men, well....mostly.

Aye, I’d agree with that, experienced head always in the right position knowing when to recycle possesion or speed the game up.

Older wiser head instead of a rush job.

I thought he was MOTM, he broke up play so many times and made an excellent block for what looked like a goal bound ball.

What is good is there were a few different players mentioned in the match thread for MOTM.

Did block their only proper chance when called upon tbf.

But his general play pretty much gets a free pass from proper analysis when a team offers as little as that upfront and had no press at all in the middle.
Not saying he didnt anything bad but its not like he was tested for 90 minutes.

Thought he was ok yesterday. The pace of the game, from AIK, was relatively slow which suited him. It's when teams press high and attack with speed he noticably struggles these days. I'd rest him on Sunday and keep him for AIK game, but I know that won't happen.

This. Dont get how people can say anything negative about his performance. Think it's purely habit after the last week of utter negativity towards him and celtic.

We tried, he chose england. That in itself shows it would have only covered brown for 2 years before he wanted his english move. * mcginn.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with his performance the other night! We're simply a better team with him in it. Nobody else protects the defence better. His ball retention was good also.

I thought he was decent. Nothing like the horror show last week. He should definitely be rested again on Sunday. I know it's Hearts, but he just can't do 3 games in 7 days anymore.

As for whether he's back (in the sense of being our inspirational driving force), it's hard to say: he did everything he had to do well; but they weren't playing a high energy pressing game. We'll have to wait and see.

He did show he's not done, though. As long as he's properly rested.

    Thought he tired quick today.

Really shouldn't be a need for him to play 90 mins constantly. That's not going to help him.

Just needless keeping him on for the full game when we’re cruising. Take him off as opposed to Ntcham.

    Caught wrong side for pen.

He has lost a few yard pace and sharpness in the start of the season.

If Elhamed was fit I have no doubt it would have been Ajer and Jullien at CB today and Bitton in the middle with calmac

I can see he is starting to slow and definitely needs rested but we have to play a completely different way because we don't have anyone who can do what he does. Someone mentioned Ntcham but he'd be roasted trying to protect the defense like that plus he's a more forward thinking player.

Broony has to be rested, Tom Brady wouldn't be able to do what he's being asked to.

But we've got AIK and the huns, anyone seriously think it's a good time to drop him?

Wish we were 3 0 up going to Sweden and if we do go ahead early then Lenny has to take him off and rest him.

    He can’t start next week.

They’ll run over the top of him even worse than last season.
