Speaks volumes: would have walked into that Liverpool team and Spurs were interested. He's in that second tier of Celtic legends alongside guys like Naka, Boruc, Lubo, Sutton, etc (first tier being only for guys like Larsson, McStay, McGrain, Dalglish, the Lions, etc).

He's in his prime as a footballer right now.

Is he really going back to the Scotland team for one game?

I honestly don't see the benefit for him, us or Scotland.

Strachan has already * qualification by losing at home to Lithuania. Brown could pick up an injury that could see him out of the team and disrupt his form. Make a decision and stick to it.

I wouldn't say Naka and Boruc were legends mate, Celtic Icons definitely.

Broonys up there with Lubo, Sutton etc for the sheer passion he shows for the club and the service he's given us.

I don't think he'll play for Scotland again, part of me wants him to because Scotland really miss him especially with how he's playing.

What makes you say that? Are you mystic megging that he gets injured?

Very disappointed he's decided to play for Scotland again. Better not get injured.

I just don't think he'll go back on retiring from Scotland, he's already said he feels a lot better and fitter with the weeks off already and wants to prolong his career. Definitely not mate!

I hope it's a one off, but it would be bizzare if he was only coming out of retirement for one game.

He's went back on it mate, that isn't the issue. It's whether Strachan picks him at Wembley or not, which he will.

    Pretty much set in stone.

If he comes back for the Wembley game it'll be as a personal favour to WGS. He has huge respect for him.

Just hope he doesn't come back to international duty altogether.

:giggle1: * sake I thought this was just a rumour he was going to reverse his retirement, don't know how I missed that one :52: I'll just quietly leave this thread.

Was at my lads football team's race night tonight (Edinburgh City). A signed Broony top went for £175. One of his nephew's plays for them... What a price. What a legend. \o/

Sounds to me that Strachan has pleaded with Broony to do him a favour by playing against England.
And Broony has felt he has an obligation to WGS as he signed him for Celtic.

Can't blame a guy for changing his mind when it comes to playing for his country but he seems like the kind of guy who once he makes a decision stands by it.

I reckon he's been persuaded to come out of retirement at least for the chance to give the Auld Enemy a game, one which he would be totally up for.

But it did seem like the right time for him to retire from Internationals because he's 31 and he won't want to be playing through injuries ever again especially after the state it left him in last season.

All the best to him, I'd love to see us beat England and also miraculously qualify from this Group but once it's numerically impossible then I think he should hang up the boots for good. Even if we did get to Russia. There's two years to find new guys for the role.

I'd like to see him playing for Celtic when he's 35 using his experience and combative spirit to influence the team and games.

We should probably have already been looking to sign his younger replacement, someone with the same qualities who can grow into the team.

I thought he was brilliant again today. He looks to have added strength and pace to his driving runs.

    Different player under Rodgers.
