Rip It Up!

Yes this cool 3 part series on the history of Popular Music Scotland has started very recently on the BBC,with the first part being shown very recently and now available on the BBC I Player.I have seen the first one tonight and it i well worth a watch,each episode being an hour long.

 

Really good the story of how Scottish music acts managed to remove themselves from the shackles of London.Also how Scotland had its own seperate Popular Music culture and for example how Scotland had its own version of Punk as it broke out of London,both would meet up in the Central belt.
Amazing story of the Average White Band and indeed Nazareth,both doing good business in the States,only up to the late 70s in the story so far,cannot wait for part 2 next week
The legend of the The Sensational Alex Harvey Band of course gets excellent coverage and how they heavily influenced Scottish Punk.Also how Scottish record sales wee not tallied up properly hence bias to England,especially London.

 

I loved the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, I'll watch this on catch up, sounds good

 

I have seen all 3 episodes now,well worth a watch if you like cool Music,the third part is the best which looks at the story of the Indie Scene in Scotland,yes it is * good!!
