If there’s four or five midfielders better than him in Japan then they are favourites for the next World Cup.

The coach seems like a *.

Their squad has players from J-League, Austrian Bundesliga, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland and obviously Maeda has been consistently called up too. These leagues although on the whole better than ours aren't exactly streets ahead.

Hatate and Kyogo should be in the starting XI it's not even a debate. I've seen.most of the other players that turn out for them.

Hatate faces competition from a bottom Bundesliga club player, a top 4 Portuguese league club player, a 2. Bundesliga club player(!), and a top 6 Bundesliga club player.

Furuhashi competes against Maeda, a bottom Bundesliga club player, a mid-table Belgian club player and a J-League lower table player who is a youth prospect.

Formations used are 4-3-3 and 3-4-3.

This is a worry for us with these players not being called up as the Japanese boys are very patriotic and a huge honour for them to play for their country.

Hopefully we see them in the squad sooner rather than later. Otherwise can see some moving on and also limits who we can bring in from Japan

Best thing for us would be them binning the manager. He's clearly a * clown

There was talk pre World Cup they had sounded out Ange and others on their interest in being their national manager so if true they were thinking about it.

However the team beating who they did meant there was no way they were getting rid of him.

Although being honest they were largely outplayed against Germany and Spain (certainly first half) but got the results, it was much like us beating Euro giants in CL back in the day where we were second best but took our chances and rode our luck. The most impressive game they had was against Croatia where they were unlucky to lose.

They had 2 brilliant halves against Germany and Spain. If nothing, their manager has a great plan B. Against my homeland they were better in the first half, and about equal the rest of the game.

I hope their manager spoke the truth when he said he just wants to test players in friendly matches and that he knows the qualities of Celtic-based Japanese players from having watched us.

Moriyasu is a good manager. Hatate and Furuhashi can help him overcome the issues with defensive teams. And they will be there to defend in bigger games with exemplary work rate.

The coach has definitely got a point regarding the league quality, but tbh it's more if an excuse. Somebody of hatate's quality would get a chance under any reasonable coach. A lazy excuse.

As Maeda often says, Hatate is very passionate. Hatate was also saying in an interview that he was very frustrated not to have been selected for FIFA World Cup 2022, so he couldn't watch Japan's games. He's been very impressive in 2023 so far, but he was not called up again. He is surely very frustrated now. Most Japanese football media and fans think Hatate should be called up for Samurai Blue, so even some media was asking Moriyasu why he didn't select Hatate (and Kyogo) in the press conference yesterday.

He doesn't have a point if he's picking Maeda.
Picking Maeda over Kyogo only shows he knows absolutely * all

Aye world cup performances has likely bought him more time.
I do remember reading stuff pre world cup about him being replaced but probably unlikely now which is a worry for us. Coz if Reo and Kyogo are continually overlooked they may look to move on and if will also put off potential new signings from Japan

It seems Tomiyasu, a Japanese defender playing for Arsenal got injured in a game of Europa League tonight. Following his injury, one additional player might be called up for the national team. Reo Hatate might be called up?. Of course, he is not a defender, though.

Left back is a position Hatate can play fairly well.

Yep, he is very versatile, and it's another reason why Samurai Blue should have him.

This has been the most exciting news for the zombies for a while, shows how bad a season they are having. Still trying to convince themselves Hatate and Kyogo aren’t good players but we all know deep down they are desperate for them to leave. They claim they were mince in Europe etc etc. Kyogo was probably injured most of it and Hatata had some very good games in Europe. It was their first time playing at the top level too in a new team. They will only get better. Hatate is the best player in the league and only Calmac is anywhere close to him.

They should have a look at their own European “record” which they will probably hold onto for decades. The worst team to ever play in the Champion League.

Pretty sure he just signed a new contract after their good WC showing so I wouldn't hold out for it.
