Having another player alongside McGregor that looks like they can do a bit of everything and has the legs to go box to box is absolutely massive for us, we've been far too reliant on him to create and be the engine of the midfield at the same time. Turnbull has worked his * off the first half of the season to be fair to him, and Bitton has shown up well when he's came in at DM instead of being wasted as a makeshift CB, both will still have a big part to play this season I'm sure, but we've definitely missed that extra bit of drive and energy in the middle at times.

As Celtic debuts go, Reo Hatate enjoyed a very impressive one, helping the Hoops to a 2-0 victory over Hibernian and picking up the Man of the Match award in the process.

By the time he was replaced in midfield by fellow countryman, Yosuke Ideguchi, with 15 minutes of the match remaining, the 24-year-old had already impressed the packed Paradise crowd with his performance.

And while he didn’t get on the scoresheet – he had a superb first-half effort well saved by Hibs goalkeeper, Matt Macey – Hatate was instrumental in the Celtic win, linking up in the heart of midfield alongside Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic.

Another debut Bhoy, Daizen Maeda, did open his goalscoring account for Celtic, netting the opening goal after just five minutes, and the performance of his new signings delighted manager, Ange Postecoglou.

Speaking after the game, the Celtic manager said of Reo Hatate: “He’ll make his own mark and he’s a very talented young player and a very determined young man. He shows signs of reaching the very top of the game.

'He will come off the pitch knowing he did okay and performed at a level, but he will want more. That’s the kind of character and personality he is.'

“He doesn’t just want to enjoy the ride, he has some sights and ambitions to be the best player he can be and reach the top.

“You saw some of his quality but there is definitely more to come from all the boys. It was a good start to their Celtic careers.

“It was a good game to just expose the lads and Yosuke later on to what it’s like to play for this football club. At home against a good opponent, you’ve got to be up for it. I thought all three acquitted themselves well.”

I know its only one game and hesitant to judge too quickly, but his ability on the ball is levels above, his first touch to turn and go or pass just eases him away from players. Then his passing ability looks unreal. On top of that he works his * off to press and get stuck in.
