Give Bangura a shot up himself, he works hard enough and he's physical enough. Sure he has a poor first touch but Kenny Miller's made a career of that.

SPL's is the priority here, I don't think we can risk Stokes running himself into the ground in a position that he is absolute * in before an important match on Sunday. He's the main man for me but if he plays he needs a strike partner.

Well, you may be right. SPL is priority indeed but I think we have to show ourselves in Europe too. We did all the effort to get reinstated and now we let Europe go as if we dont care? Not for me!

And about the lone striker role: I'm ok with Bangura. He has the skills to get past a player and create some chances. But the difference between him and Stokes atm is that Stokes is more confident after his 2 goals on Sunday. Bangura hasnt scored for us yet.

Thats probably what Id pick too.
Still undecided as to whether I would pick Ki or not. Not been too hot the last few games but he played very well against udinese. Yo tend to get a bit more time on the ball in Europe, plus French sides aren't the most attacking. Most play 4-5-1. But I'd defo have wanyama on played pretty well and we need some solid defensive cover so him and kayal cold do that. Stokes is a must!!!

    Forrest

    Stokes

That midfield could run the show. There's enough creativity there for stokes.

I know what you mean but I think having Stokes on the pitch as the one player upfront is playing a man short, he is just not suited for it. Stokesy is part of a 2 man strikeforce, his style of play dictates that.

I hope this is the side we start with :50:

Choking to see more of Wanyama in the holding role, he was excellent there against Udinese. Also think with the 4 we have in midfield and the fact there is plenty of cover with Wanyama there there will be plenty of support for Stokes.

Also, who said Stokes can't play up top himself? If he has runners off him he is the best link up player in the squad.

I've seen him play there 4 or 5 times when he was the only fit striker last season. He was awful.

I think he has the best first touch and link up play but he doesn't get the room that he makes for himself when he has a strike partner and therefore gets stifled easily.

I think you have a good point with the cover in midfield but they would need to really, really support him.

I would still not want him risked at all though, SPL is the focus for me.

i like the look of that team as well. although i've got to the stage where i would try anyone but majstorovic at the back. i would be more inclined to give rogne a start (even though he has been out for some time).

I think Cha's pace is essential in Europe if we go a 451, he can be both a supporting attacker and a defender.

In a team that hasn't got a lot of pace, that is quite essential. Although Mark Wilson is a far better defender than him.

I honestly don't know if Bangura could play a lone striker role but what about young Paul George or one of the other development squad being slotted in? The young boys have been playing that formation in the next series so it's not as if it'd be new to them.

I think he has the workrate and the strength for it, quite pacy as well with some neat little trickery worked into his game but his first touch is atrocious.

I want Paul George and Paddy McCourt to start. I don't want Forrest or Stokes anywhere near this game, they are to crucial for the SPL.

As above his pace is vital and he was actually one of the only decent performers at Killie before being whipped off.

    I think why bother?

We all know we're not going to do anything in this competition and we've had European hangovers after each of our games in the league and * knows we can't afford another.

Don't get me wrong I want us to compete in every game and win every game but we have to be realistic.

So why not play the youth and focus on the league?

Especially in certain areas; DF and ST, as we need someone better than Maj and we need someone to partner Stokesy.

And if there are any others who can contribute and take some of the pressure off the first team regulars, then why not!!!

For me, it's a win win situation, as we find out if the youth players are ready for the first team and we are rested and focussed on the league, which is and always will be the priority!!!

And you never know - with the opposition not knowing anything about the youngsters we might just get a result :icon_mrgreen:

    Hail Hail

dissapointed commons seems to be getting frozen out

i would have liked him to play left midfield in this game instead of ledley as ledley's pretty * stuck out on the left

    i would have had :-

    Forster

    Cha - Majstorovic - Mulgrew - Matthews

    Wanyama

    Forrest - Kayal - Ledley - commons

    Stokes or bangura

Commons is injured - picked up a knock in training, his thigh, I think.

Of course, he'll probably say otherwise via Twitter :56:
