That Depeche Mode when we score!!
The American Big Screen legend Sidney Poitier has passed away today aged 94.He became the first Blackman to win Best Actor at the Oscars in 1963 for the superb Lilies Of The Field. He is one of my all time favourite Actors and I have very fond memories of watching his many Good Films with my family as a lad and I still watch them today.
In The Heat Of The Night circa 67, what a Film!! Other fine Films he starred in include......

    The Defiant Ones circa 58
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner circa 67
A Raisin In The Sun circa 61
To Sir, With Love circa 67
    Blackboard Jungle circa 55

So R.I.P Sydney you inspired not only countless Black People on and off the Screen but Countless people period and I was one of them.

    Serious? :(

Man, he was a great actor. Gotta include In the Heat of the Night & They Call Me Mister Tibbs!, Deadly Pursuit, Lillies in the Field, Sneakers and Little Nikita. Not to mention some of the movies he directed, such as Stir Craxy and Hanky Panky.

In the Heat... is probably his best and most defining role, but Deadly Pursuit si such an underrated thiller and a movie have lost count how many times have sat through.

Great actor, political activist over the issue of race and in later life as an Ambassador, in a remarkable life. RIP :(

Deadly Pursuit was a great movie back in the late 80's

Anyone not seen that should give it a watch. Sid is a detective trying to chase a killer through the mountains and needs the help of Tom Berenger to track him down as a mountain guide.

    RIP

That slap he did in " In the heat of the night' wasnt rehearsed or supposed to happen in the film. He told the director but not the actors that he was going to do it.
