Is this the first time we’ve had the huns in the same pre-season tournament?

I think it is. We must have been fed up playing in tournaments that didn't count since the huns weren't in them.

Seeing that a lot of our squad could play up to 44 games between now and the end of this year alone. With no winter break this season is going to be gruelling. We need reinforcements big time.

Totally Agree, particularly at CB and potentially CF depending on how good Klimala is and if Bayo can make a contribution. We obviously need a first choice GK as well.

In terms of running people in to the ground we have good cover in midfield if we utilise it and depending on the fitness of MJ and bringing through Dembele we have wide options in attack but with the current squad I fear our CB's in particular will be asked to play a lot of football and we were not very good at rotating the team last year particularly in midfield.

We often look to be struggling physically with the exploits of European football once the group stages are complete when we are finishing off the December fixtures. The past two seasons by that point injuries have normally set in to the squad and those that have played every minute of every game are not performing at their best through fatigue.

Dundalk are waiting to hear if a friendly away to Celtic can go ahead this weekend.

The League of Ireland champions have played Derry City, Bohemians and Drogheda United in recent friendlies.

But they have a gap in their schedule on Saturday ahead of their first league game back against St Pat’s on Friday week.

Celtic - who are in Paris to play PSG tomorrow - agreed to fill the void by hosting the game.

But the government’s decision last week to delay phase four of reopening to the country until August 10 is a major spanner in the works.

The United Kingdom looks set to be excluded from the government’s ‘green list’ of travel destinations.

People coming into Ireland from the countries listed won’t have to self isolate when they arrive.

That list was due to be published today but a Cabinet meeting to sign off on it was postponed.

Dundalk are seeking clarity on whether Scotland will be classified as a standalone destination, or fall under the UK umbrella.

If it is the latter, the friendly won’t be played as the Dundalk players and staff would have to quarantine for two weeks on their return.

Shamrock Rovers had arranged a friendly against PSG at the Parc des Princes in Paris last Friday but that had to be cancelled because of travel restrictions.

Lennon is hoping to line up Dundalk or Derry City at Celtic Park this weekend if the Irish government agree an air bridge with Scotland.

The champions will also face Motherwell on Sunday and Lennon wants his men to get used to home comforts again.

He said: “They are not there yet in terms of full fitness. Most of them haven’t played 90 minutes before the PSG game.

“Normally you’d have five or six games by this stage but we’ve had three. We’ll give some game time on Saturday and some others on Sunday.

“It’s difficult but the club have done everything they can in the circumstances.

“It will be important to play at Celtic Park because we’ve been away for so long. We’ve not played there since March. You want them to get a feel for playing there behind closed doors.”
