I’m concerned that we do not get the correct man because the overall structure of the club is still in the dinosaur ages.

Rodgers and Lawwell’s relationship was severed long before he left in the February. This might be controversial, but I genuinely think Rodgers wanted the best for the club in terms of moving us forward as a modern and progressive club (how and when he left is another matter). Lawwell will not want someone to have that type of aura or power at the club whilst he is still there now.

Moreover to that, penny-pinching has been synonymous at this club for many a year. How many times have we been so unprepared for CL qualifications? Throwing in all sorts of square pegs into round holes. You’d think they would be embarrassed enough the first time. Appointing Lennon just reinforced that.

Finally, I find it head-scratching how we are still shopping in the same type of market as the mob across the river. The vast, vast majority of our signings fall within the 0-5m range. We have been shopping in this price range since about 2006. But that is in spite of substantial football inflation; several record transfer fees and several assets worth £15m+; record TV revenue; record CL revenue. We were haggling over a few thousand for McGinn ffs.

This board are excessively conservative financially and in terms of the culture they create around the club. This goes deep. I don’t have the confidence that they will get the right man.

    1) Because that's what happened...

    2) Ah yes, Barkas. This is all down to Barkas.

Bring in Ståle Solbakken. Think he fits our profile and budget.

Forster didn't want to come, it happens.

We moved on. That alone isn't responsible for our troubles.

ex Copenhagen manager with english championship experience ( wolves ) due to a bad start to the 2020–21 Danish Superliga and a failure to qualify for the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League, Solbakken was relieved from his duties at Copenhagen on 10 October 2020.....so nah another Lenny eh !!!

He got FCK to the quarterfinals in the EL just a couple of months ago. Granted, the poor start of the season got him the sack. Can't look away from that. But out of the alternatives only him and Eddie Howe seems to fit the bill just now.

It has to be said that Forster has had numerous games where he saved us from a bad result. Barkas just can't do it, and neither can Bain.

Barkas will come good for us under the correct management.

He had excellent statistics and clean sheets with a settled and stubborn AEK defence in front of him.

We by contrast have a system that leaves us wide open, frail out wide and open to shots at the edge of the box. A mess, in short.

Lennon came out after Ferencvaros saying certain players didn't want to be here, player's heads had been turned by agents and money.

Fans were then demanding that they go, 'if they don't want to be here let them go' etc etc.

Now, 5 months down the line, we're yearning for a player who didn't want to be here. A player who didn't want to be our number 1, his preference was to be a squad player down south cause it paid better.

    Give us peace man

I would rather take a chance on him than see Lennon continue, or Strachan return, to be fair.

Davies is a known quantity, to some extent - we know his coaching abilities, philosophy, and work ethic - so he might merit consideration. Is he ready to take charge of a club? Who knows. That is why you have an interview process.

We need a fresh approach, in any case. The supporters, and, crucially, the players want a modern coach (something which I think is overlooked).
