    I want someone from the continent but I can’t see us going that route.

    If it has to be British, then my choice would probably be Howe. His former assistant is now the Bournemouth manager so getting in Maloney to be his assistant manager, if he agreed to it, could be a good option.

    Whoever comes in needs to get rid of the deadwood. Too many of them simply putting NO effort in. Others thinking they were good now being found out. A massive rebuild required. That's not going to happen this season.

    Is it naïve to think that someone at the club could just sit down with a list of names from each association, and narrow it down?

    In England, for example, Premier League managers are likely to be attractive options, but unlikely to be interested in the job; League One and League Two managers are unlikely to be attractive options, but likely to be interested in the job; and Championship managers are likely to be a mixed bag.

    I guess that the mixed bag is where we ought to focus our search.

    Gordon Strachan is a far cry from the long term solution, but he’d certainly be a huge improvement on the current situation. His teams are far from exciting, but we need a focus on shape which he’d bring and players love playing for him.

    Yes, I’d rather Howe or someone like him (more modern, attack-minded), but if it’s a question of Lennon or Strachan until May, there’s only one winner in my eyes.
