He was good last season but already he seems to me to have raised his level this season. Really I am already a big fan and you get the feeling he will just continue to improve as well.

 

In terms of whether we're a better team with Engels or Bernardo, I think it's a case of horses for courses. They have different strengths and weaknesses. The word "ability" covers a lot of areas and an argument can be made for Bernardo (a player I really like); but if you mean specifically technical ability, I just can't see what you see. For me, Engels is technically far superior, it's just not even close IMO.

A good example is Bernardo's role in that goal at the weekend: the tenacity he showed was fantastic and the awareness for that little flick was outstanding (I repeat, he's a great player); but the technical execution of the flick was just not particularly crisp and smooth compared to some other flicks we've seen this year. He's not technically poor or anything, but he's pretty average IMO.

Different game if he starts. Engels never touched the ball.

 

Really influential when he came on. Would have been different had he and Valle started.

He needs to start at the weekend and he deserves a proper run in the team if he performs. He's just the better option at the moment.

Has to start. I'll trust in the gaffer but he must see the difference when he's on. Engels started strongly here but he needs benched I think, and Bernardo given a shot.

 

Genuinely playing a level above Engels..

Gave a couple away but some of his wee flicks and passes round the corner, sensing danger or when to nick the ball was good tonight..

How he can't get a start in our midfield 3, no 2....is baffling right now..

 

He has to be starting now, even removing Engels from the picture I'd be starting him ahead of Hatate.

Baffling as to why he's not been played more, has to start this weekend and has to start away to Zagreb.

 

Far and away the best option for us just now, ahead of both Engels and Hatate. His intelligence is just off the scale. Criminal how little game time he's getting.

I liked him instantly and he’s only going to get better. He’s got all the basics you need to be a top class midfielder and he’s only improving.

Out of our entire squad I genuinely believe he’ll play at the highest level out of everyone.

 

This boy has everything except real pace I think. He will be a real top player in my opinion. Needs games for us from the start, so much better than Hatate and Engels at this point in time.

 

Has to, has to start he made a difference

 

I think he's * brilliant and did so before we signed him. Championed us to blow £6m to get him early. Personally needs to be a starter.
