He made it clear when he left his time was up. He wanted to play in the Prem and get in the England squad.
I don’t think he’s ever coming back here - even if we did make him a serious offer.
He’s like Forrest in that he plays well against * teams but didn't perform against the Huns or against ‘big’ teams, but he’s not as good as Forrest.
I think that’s the reality of it.

He was excellent against the Huns, he got more assists v them than any player in the last decade. And that's from him being a loan player.

I can think of at least 3 games v them when he was unplayable.

It's a real shame he didn't make a permanent move. Apparently Guardiola vetoed it.

For sure would have loved to have seen him make a permanent move to us. Crazy that he is on yet another loan now at Derby and yet still a Manchester City player.

Ship has sailed, maybe would have worked out if we had signed him after his loan spell but looks like his career never really got going, still cannot hold down a starting place. Hes no kid either.

Your probably right. A pity it never worked out long term though. Thought he was a really good player exciting to watch in full flight and an eye for a really good pass too. His type of wing play and the width he offers has been badly missed this season. I will say though from an age stand point yes he is no kid anymore but he is still only 24 so I would certainly be happy enough if he was signed in the summer. Maybe coming back to Celtic is exactly what he needs to kick start his career.

I do wonder under the right manager if we can rejuvenate him Sinclair-esq.

We have had a few players who have came and went that were decent, but they had no real desire to stay and play for us and imo its good luck to them.

Hate the idea of us hoping or wishing players would come back to us after their plans didnt work out.Its like we are desperate for them to come back.

Roberts didnt think we were good enough for his ambitions and he left, well id like to think (despite the board)we have ambitions of being a top club domestically and in Europe and imo the likes of him are not good enough for us.We need guys who are committed to the cause and want to come and stay and help us progress.

We need this club to be a club players want to play for and not just use as a stepping stone to the EPL.

99% of players probably want to play in the EPL.

We should be using it to our advantage that we’re right next door and a perfect stepping stone to it.

Understand the desire to play in the EPL but from our point of view we need to strike the correct balance.Lets try get players on decent contracts and when the time comes for them to go we are well compensated.

Your correct we should use it to our advantage but as i said lets try make it work for us in every way possible. With regards to guys looking to leave and then see their careers nosedive because it didnt work out and talk of trying to get them back id say no..

Think, at the time, he wanted a crack at Premiership, but alas, never good enough.
In fact, for the past few years , he has joyrided around the championship, and has never nailed down a starting place.
Forget him, time to move on.

Of course we can rejuvenate Patrick Roberts. We love him. Unlike every club he's been to since leaving Celtic. Or for his entire career for that matter. It Matters. The fans are as important as family for a man's wellbeing and performance. I wish the daft * would realise it.

5 years on I'd love Patrick Roberts at Celtic.

Class player but surely his issue is injuries or he'd be at a bigger club now

He’s scored more Champions League goals than Forrest and set up more goals against Rangers than Forrest.

Same amount of CL goals as McGeady, Hesselink, Scott McDonald, Gary Hooper and John Hartson.

    *, 2 behind Larsson.

Eddie Howe could rescue his career.

    Bring him home.
