Given some of the chat over the last week about Europe, these are the results.

Gives you a better picture. Now, given opposition, our squad, money, form etc etc, people can reason why they think one is more successful than the other.

Personally, I think Brendan has had it tough with the teams we have drawn

    Good question.

On paper you have to say O'Neill purely for Seville.

I would say Strachan though. Reaching the last 16 and the last 9 :D with that defence is nothing short of a miracle.

    It’s easily MON for 2003.

Back when the UEFA Cup was a quality competition we were cheated by one of the best teams in Europe who then went on to prove that the following season.

Far as Rodgers goes, he has some learning and tweaking to do but it’s not as bad as some make out. Mainly because of the behemoths we’ve been put up against.

MON for me, getting to the Uefa cup final and then following that with a quarter final appearance the following season after beating Barca without conceding a goal over the 2 legs is the best achievement we've had this century in Europe. We were absolutely feared and had teams like Bayern celebrating draws at CP, can only dream of that nowadays.

Difficult one and it comes down to O'Neill or Strachan. MON's big achievement was of course Seville and also a UC quarter final. Strachan made the last 16 of the CL two years in a row. If it came down to sentimental reasons it would be O'Neill, if it came down to achieving at the highest level then its Strachan. You could also argue that MON was screwed out of last 16 CL places twice with shady penalties, Juve away in 2001 and Lyon away in 2003. O'Neill I'd say.

I think it's clearly O'Neill. Looking at the numbers above. percentage-wise its most impressive. Also how close he took us to the last 16 in the CL that year.

Even more impressive when you think about what we were like before he took over. Although having prime Larsson was obviously a big factor in that as well.

We need to have the option for the long ball in Europe against better footballing sides. Simple

    1. O'Neill
    2. Lennon
    3. Rodgers
    4. Strachan
    5. Deila
    6. Mowbray

O'Neill done the best, especially as he started with us having a * coefficient and done well in Europe every season against mostly very good teams.

Lennon done well as he took over a poorer coefficient always put in good showings, won an away CL game, got the best points total in the CL.

Rodgers manages in an unlucky era where we have to play 60 games a season year after year with ittle time off so the players are probably never at top gear any more but 2 CL qualifications and then Europe after Christmas then coming above Leipzig for EL after Christmas is decent.

Strachan got a bit lucky that he had good seedings and didnt have to play many qualifiers to get into the CL and also still really managed in the era where we were the 20-30th richest club around compared to now. Although he got to the Last 16 twice which was good but 12 losses out of 13 away and Artmedia are black marks.

Deila done fairly poor especially against weaker teams, should have done better against Legia, Malmo, Molde and Maribor but done quite well against Ajax, Fenerbahce and Inter.

Mowbray worst since he never got through a EL Group and probably should have come above Rapid and Hapoel but did well to knock out Dynamo Moscow.

    Compare Strachan’s seasons to Rodgers

WGS only had to play 2 qualifiers in 4 seasons

BR has had to play 10 including playoffs
