    Hi all

Just registered for OU....has anyone done this before?
Been wanting to get back to learning coz I dont like my job that much in retail and feel I'm just being a lazy *.
Said before I got married I wanted to work towards either teaching or counselling...counselling won it.
Have struggled with health for years...physical and mental..and with last year being a write off (and probably the best opportunity to actually study) ice decided to jump in and not waste another year.

If anyone has any points or stories on how you they got on be much appreciated to hear

    Cheers
    GG

    Really appreciate it.

Been to uni before but totally ballsed it up by excessive partying and generally being a wee *.
But want to really push on with this and hopefully be able to give back. Instead of helping * find a xxxl in being a *

Currently doing planetary sciences on it just now to add a bit of theory to a hobby - really enjoying it.

Just to add. Its very well organised. If you fancy taking the step you'll be well looked after. The downside is its part time (in my case) so can take a few more years to get through. Especially for degrees.

Fantastic uni. I've done a few shorter courses with them.

    Really good feedback here.

I'll still be working full time but want to try still invest more hours than part time requires.
Good thing is now mrs grocer is working so if I do need to cut down hours at some point, even though might cost me my position at my work currently, can always try find another job or hopefully they might understand and keep me at that level.....they have a part time AM so why not.

    Fingers crossed lads.

    Cheers

Im in the same boat mate, full time work and do it part time at night after the wee man goes to bed.

I must admit the hours scheduled for part time is generous.
i was worrying i wouldnt cope with the workload but i always end up 1 or 2 weeks ahead of the schedule which defo helps.

I think you will be able to fire through it if your a quick-ish learner haha.

If you're doing it part time how many hours work is required, and roughly how long would the average course take you? Can you do it at your own pace or are there set time frames?

I've been considering it for a while, might actually look at going part time if possible.

Best of luck with it though, I know I couple of people it's really helped.

Depends on the course mate but roughly 16-18 hours per week, there is a schedule u need to stick to but you can get ahead. Theres monthly assignments you need to do that contribute to your overall yearly score.

If its part time it can range from 3-6 years, depending on the course.

Cool, think I'll probably look into it again once I've paid a few things off. Now's probably the best kind of time to do it to be honest.

Remember aswell if you earn 25k or under SAAS will pay for your full degree, even if your working full time or that aswell mate.

Aye cheers for that, was another thing I wasn't sure about. Think today was the last day for a lot of applications for this year, but think I'll look into it for the next openings. Hopefully moving to a new job where I work over 4 days as well which would help.
