Rules.where a bit complicated to explain. Basically played up and down the 3 holes 4 times first back was the winner and you got to keep your opponets coin. Was a penny when we played... aye, I know im that old.

You could do things like span your coin out with your hand from your opponents. To get nearer the hole. You could skip your coin off theirs too, again too get nearer the hole.

Couldn't play.it in the rain though. For obvious reasons....

In Belfast we call Kerby, Cribbies. It comes from crib path which derives from the Gaelic word Crúb. Also the coin throwing game we called Pitch and Toss. Also used to love the long summer days having Squeezy fights. Where you filled an old washing up liquid bottle or 2 litre Cider bottle with water and soaked every *. Your ma, aunt and Granny used to crack up for running in and out to fill the bottle. Although I remember we found an outdoor tap at the back of the Parish Priests house.

Also played a game called Castlereagh. It was called after Castlereagh RUC holding and interrogation centre where cops would beat * out of Catholic’s. The premise of the game was like two man hunt (the two man being Peelers) but when you were caught you got * kicked out of ye. Also had to join the Peelers once caught.

Some crackers in here...oh the memories.

We had one called Peggy. 3 wooden clothes pegs set up like goal posts resting against a wall. Take turns each of throwing a tennis ball at them, first to knock them down runs away and whoever grabs the ball has to chase.

If you manage to get back and set the pegs back up, you win. And obviously if you get skudded with the ball before you can do that, yer oot :giggle1:

Singles and doubles. Football game shooting into one goal. Free for all where it’s every man for himself or two men teams. Score and you’re into the next round. Last person or team to score is eliminated.

Dougie - basically what a lot of people call headers & volleys. Hit wide or over the bar and you go in goal. If the keeper full catches your shot, he throws it to someone for a header and if they score the header the keeper comes out. Start with 10 lives. Lose lives when you concede as the goalie. First person to lose all their lives loses and has to bare their * for boot the root.

Bulldog. Was banned in our school too.

Pillow boxing. We didn’t have gloves so we used to box each other with pillows. :56:

Same games just different patter brilliant, boot the root we called running the gommy, I mind that now with crosses the lives, there was always one * ended up going home in a huff after 20 goals into him, every 3 goals I think was one variation equaled another catch needed to get out.

Also mind the ways to determine who was IT or first to pick teams.

Ticky - one step each at a time till first one to stand on other shoe gets to pick.
