    Was really hoping that we would be looking at Go Jae-Hyeon. 13 goals in the K League from attacking midfield last season. Only 24 as well.

    Celtic FC, a Scottish professional soccer team, made an official offer to the K-League 1 Suwon Samsung club to recruit Oh Hyeon-gyu (21).

    An official familiar with the European transfer market said on the 30th, “Celtic made a full recruitment offer to Suwon to bring Oh Hyun-kyu. He recently sent an official offer letter, and I understand that the proposed transfer fee is 2 million euros.”

    The Scottish press recently poured out reports saying, “Celtic is aiming for K-League 1 Jeonbuk Hyundai striker Cho Kyu-seong.” However, Celtic seems to be more interested in Oh Hyun-kyu. The transfer fee of 2 million euros that Celtic offered to Suwon is 2.695 billion won in our money, which is a large amount. An official from Suwon said, “I received a transfer offer. It is difficult to say the specific conditions,” he said.


    Hyungyu Oh participated in the Qatar World Cup as the '27th member of Bentuho'. Although he was not included in the final 26 players, Paulo Bento, coach of the Korean national team, took into consideration the condition of Son Heung-min (Tottenham), who is recovering, and invited Oh Hyeon-gyu, a 'reserve member', to accompany him. Oh Hyeon-gyu actively helped the seniors train and learned from himself. Captain Son Heung-min (Tottenham) expressed his gratitude to Oh Hyun-kyu for playing an important role on his way home.

    Oh Hyeon-kyu was born in 2001, but he is a reserve player who completed his military service. After signing a semi-professional contract with Suwon in 2019, he signed a professional contract with Suwon the following year. That year, he joined the military team Gimcheon Sangmu and played two seasons before completing his national defense duty. He played 36 games in the K League 1 in the 2022 season and scored 13 goals (3 assists), the most in his team.

    In particular, in the second leg of the promotion playoff (PO) against FC Anyang, he scored a dramatic heading-winning goal in the 15th minute of the second half of extra time against 1-1. He saved a team that was in danger of being relegated to the second division. Coach Bento, who noticed his explosive scoring ability and reckless moves, selected Oh Hyun-gyu to play in a friendly match against Iceland last month. Oh Hyeon-kyu, who was only in one match, was brought to the World Cup as a reserve player.


    Founded in 1887 and boasting a 135-year history, Celtic is a prestigious club that has won 52 Scottish league championships, the most. He has won the Scottish Cup trophy 40 times and the Scottish League Cup 20 times. In the 1966-67 season, they won the European Cup, the predecessor of the UEFA Champions League, and in the 2002-03 season, they won the UEFA Cup runner-up. Club legends include Henrik Larsson and Kenny Dalglish. Korean players Ki Sung-yong and Cha Doo-ri played from 2010 to 2012. Ki Sung-yueng moved to Swansea City in the English Premier League based on his performance at Celtic.

    Celtic's head coach is Angie Postecoglu, a former Australian national team manager. From 2018 to last year, he served as Japan J-League Yokohama Marinos coach. Celtic currently has four Japanese players. Kyōgo Furuhashi will be the front striker, and Daizen Maeda, who represented Japan at the World Cup in Qatar, will play as the wing. If Oh Hyun-gyu heads to Celtic, he is expected to compete with Furuhashi.

    Attention is focusing on what decision Suwon, who received the official offer, will make.

    Hugely disappointed in this if true. £1.8m on this guy or £2.5m on Cho? Surely, we should be going all in for Cho.
