It's hard to choose a Celtic striker to really compare Eddy to, as he is quite a unique player. I mean that as a compliment and an insult :56:

Could be his last games this week, hope he goes out with a bang if that's the case!

Fair enough, sign an extension in that instance.

It’s inconceivable that we don’t at least wash our face or make a small turn on him fee wise.

I agree mate. At least a year extension would be perfect for us.

    Agree.
For both parties it surely makes sense.
Sign a one or two year extension to protect the asset, but give edouard the chance to power on this season to get himself a better move.

He surely must realise of he was to continue on in a poor form, his next club is a step backwards?
But sign the deal, power on in s good attacking team, get his goals and get his "Lyon" move.

Crystal Palce are chasing some striker from Arsenal now. Surely that's them out of the hunt for Edouard now.

I agree thatd be ide for us but makes no sense for the player to sign an extension if he has his heart set on leaving

Extension with an appropriate release clause in theory works for everyone.

If not he has to go this Window, for 9 million or anything over it.

Cant see him signing an extension.

A 1 year, one, with a minimum £15m release clause I'd take at this point. Help us win the league and its worth taking the hit.

To be honest, if he stayed and we won the league would he want to leave for a team that potentially may not have guaranteed champions league football....wonder if that's on his mind as well...

They could probably get him to sign an extension if they bumped his wages up significantly.

For me that's a no-brainer. It should make the player happy so we get results on the field and we should get the money back if he's transferred next year.

With the way we do business we should always be trying to agree a release clause prior to signing players or when they are signing an extension.

Stops all the bullshit. Every club in Spain is required to do it. Works a treat.

He won’t sign an extension, I think it will come down to if anyone fancies taking him or not. That fact he looks like he is actually trying again and has a few goals recently should help drum up interest.

I have to admit this chat of mega high wage demands doesn’t seem accurate to me as I think it’s been clear since last summer he feels it’s time to move on. Yeah he will won’t a good deal but he’s on about £20k a week at us so even £50-60k which is an average player in EPL more than doubles his money.

I also can’t see our board being happy to lose him for nothing, as others have mentioned I think we will end up with something around £12m upfront probably some add ons and a sell on and he will go to Palace or Wolves or maybe even Nice.

Overall it’s turned into a sorry affair as he’s a player that should have fetched a £20m+ fee easily with add ons taking it well past that.

You would think that Crystal Palace will be a terrible move for him as they will be right down the bottle of the table this season. I actually believe that they may go down.

Doesn't that make it a good move for him? Gets his chance to shine in a poorer team and a good move next year to a bigger team if they do get relegated...

You look at Aberdeen. They have players on long term contracts so that if anyone comes in for their stars, they will get a decent fee for them.

Welcome to Celtic - a club where we plan less than Aberdeen.
