Their current team would beat ours, they're in a better league than us and they have the same number of European cups. I won't accept that they are a diddy club, because that would mean we are too- which we aren't.

I agree with the point if Villa fire in a £40m bid and it is accepted and no other club match it, it would not surprise me if he went there.

In terms of their current team being better than ours, on paper (particularly EPL Paper) they may be but I would fancy my chances playing them.

The team is full of vastly overrated players who often flatter to deceive hence their near relegation, they have no striker they trust, their defence often look ropey and they have a number of keepers who are all susceptible to blunders. The one thing they are not short of is throwing money about but if I had spent the cash they had last year I would be expecting an awful lot better than what they were.

 

I'd fancy our chances against Villa if we drew them in a European game this year/next year hypothetically.

He aint going to a Villa type club though. Guy is hyped up more (by us and folk in France) than Dembele was. He has since watched him go to Lyon and Tierney to Arsenal. Times are changing where players need to go to another stepping stone in Southamptons and Villas of this world.

Barcelona etc aren't buying him from us, but I can bet you plenty better calibre clubs than a yo-yo epl relegation fodder club will come in for him when the time comes.
None other than Lyon should they move Dembele on, they'd be mugs not to look at that option considering both players pedigree and history.

Edouard leaves us and he is going to Arsenal, Lyon, Dortmund, Sevilla, that level of club.

Unless by some weird * chance that none of those teams need a striker and the only bid that comes in is Leeds/Villa and we accept it just because of the money.

 

Villa are historically a big club with a good fanbase but I don't agree they are better than us on paper albeit it's close. Starting 11s for their game v west ham and us v Hamilton

We underate ourselves at times. We have an excellent record against English teams, almost all of them better than the current Villa side. I would fancy it home and away.

 

Normally I don’t care where a player goes as long as we get the money, but I actually care where Eddy goes. He’s better than a Villa.

Best scenario would be an Arsenal or United.

In terms of stature Villa and Leeds wouldn’t be bad.

Leicester would be horrific.

 

Your example of McGinn actually shows what I mean. For one thing, he and CM are not really similar players; but more importantly, we wanted him (alongside CM, not instead of), so we obviously thought he would strengthen us. Villa actually have him. It's true that McGregor is better than him, but CM is our best midfielder by a mile whereas McGinn is not their best.

Aston Villa wouldn’t beat us mate. They’re dreadful. Because they play in the EPL and have won a European cup before doesn’t mean they’re not a total * show, look at us in the 90’s.

We’re a worldwide club whether we play in Scotland or not. Villa are an English club. There’s no comparison imo.

I'd be raging if lyon out of the blue came back to us and wanted Eddie as well and got him. To see Dembele and Eddie together but not on Celtic shirts would kill me.

But back on point, he ain't * leaving us for Villa. No way.

Everton or Leeds I'd say if it were a prem team. Could easily follow Dembele and go back to france. I think Eddie would be stunning in Italy personally
