I wonder if we'll go in for Belmonte or Nicolas Castro in January..

Random bump but that Castro would've been excellent for us unlocking defences. Had a bit of magic and Belmonte was a big boy that had a bit of dig and could play going box to box..

We need more in the middle. It's really light at time's..

 

Just looked up both of them and it seems Castro moved in the summer to Genk. Doubt he'd move again this soon.

I was listening to the Nordic Football podcast that covers the Swedish and Norwegian leagues.

One of the questions put to the Swedish league expert Johnathan was about the future of Bilal Hussein, who is a 22 year old energetic, box to box, creative CM playing with AIK and a regular in the Swedish U21 side. Johnathan responded he thought he would move on during the winter window as he has a year left on his deal and has outgrown the league.

When asked where he thought he would go he mentioned ourselves and Bologna as two clubs who have been linked. Anyone heard anything linking us to him?

Ironically this scouting report popped up on him on twitter and he sounds like a good fit for one of the positions Hatate and O’Riley normally occupy.

Not sure if this is a rumour really but Scottish U21 right back Harrison Ashby has rejected signing a new deal with West Ham as he wants first team football. His current deal is up in the summer and he doesn’t see a clear route to getting first team minutes mainly because they just brought through Ben Johnson.

He is apparently highly rated but so too is Johnson.

The is talk Newcastle are interested in him but we were credited with an interest in him in the summer of 2021 when we signed Juranovic. Not sure if going to Newcastle gets him much more first team football so if it is that he is after we wouldn’t be a bad shout if Juranovic leaves.

He has just turned 21 is about 5’11 but looks well built for a 21 year old, is very quick and look comfortable on the ball.

One annoying thing is although he is a Scotland U21 player, he wouldn’t qualify as association trained, however if we signed him and he done well, like O’Riley he would count as an English association trained player which could put any future sale value up.

 

Hasn’t really played much for the unders with Scotland to say he’s been at Chelsea and West Ham. Would like to see us give ralston his deserved chance when Jura goes which it seems like could be January by all the talk. Matthew Anderson is supposed to be a player too isn’t he, is he left back tho?

CELTIC are weighing up a bid for Canada international Alistair Johnston, SunSport understands.

The right sided defender - who made his debut at the global showpiece in Qatar against Belgium tonight - joined MLS side CF Montreal for £800,000 last December.

But Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou is believed to be an admirer of the star - who impressed in his role on the right side of Canada's back three against the Belgians with his strong-running and tenacity.

The Aussie has already added to his January options once today - after he secured a deal with Vissel Kobe for Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi.

The 22-year-old Kobayashi will officially join the Hoops on January 1 next year, but will start training with Ange Postecoglou's side at the start of next month.

What transfer fee Canada star Johnston could command is unknown, although he penned a two-year deal last summer, with the option for two more, with Montreal guaranteed 10% of the proceeds of any sale above £800,000.

The Vancouver-born star was one of only two players who played in all 14 of Canada’s matches in the final round of Concacaf’s World Cup qualifying campaign.

And the 24-year-old is a man who likes a tackle, having played ice hockey competitively as a youngster.

He told Sportsnet recently: "I played hockey competitively in the winter and then soccer in the summer, and I was always known as a guy who loved to bodycheck and to hit guys.

"I’ve always loved the feeling of just laying someone out, as crazy as that sounds, and I just brought that attitude into soccer.

"I love a good tackle to this day. Nothing gets me more excited [than] if I get clattered into by an opponent or I clatter into him and it’s clean and the guy starts pushing me back.

"That’s something I just love.”

Locking horns with the best the world game has to offer is sure to whet his appetite for a move into the big league sooner or later.

He said: "You see what these top guys are doing week in and week out in the Champions League — you see what De Bruyne or Modric does — and it’s honestly mindboggling how they manipulate the ball.

"As a defender, this is a great challenge and it’s something we cherish.

"We want to test ourselves against the best forwards, the best midfielders in the world.

"We want to show that Canadians belong, that there’s some good players here, and that we’re not just a hockey country. We’ve got some stereotypes to break.”

CF Montréal sporting director Olivier Renard said at the time of his move: “We are pleased to welcome this young Canadian who had a strong desire to join the club.

“Beyond his footballing qualities, Alistair has demonstrated an exemplary mindset with the Canadian national team.

"He is a versatile defender who can play both as a right-back as well as part of a three-man defense.

"We will continue closely working with him to further his progression. We are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Looked a good fit for us with Canada going for it, much like us....but maybe a bit of a downgrade on Juranovic overall..

 

Never seen it but from what you have said and a few of the mates and going by ange comments taking us to next level he doesn’t look like an enhancement on Josip like you suggest
