Hes a footballer. I wouldnt like to imagine our team without Bitton and VVD. His development has been remarkable.

Could always tell he was a good footballer, in Lenny's last season when he was at the base of the diamond he was great then got injured after a few games, just took him a run of games to get his confidence up then we saw what he was fully capable of, always believed in the big man :50:

You wouldn't take £30m for Virgil and Bitton?

    * off :56::56::56:

If that's the attitude that we have to sell players for big money then we might as well give up on CL football, Bitton will be key for us in Europe and to replace him this late on would be ridiculously hard. Virgil is 50/50 and we no doubt already have a replacement lined up if he goes.
Not to mention Bitton has only ever talked highly of the club and wanting to stay here.

How much of that 30 million would we actually see re-invested in the squad though?

Every player in the world has a price.

There are players out there chomping at the bit to get CL fitba - players we cannot afford. I like Bitton but you saying there's not BETTER out there than him?

£30m for two players picked up for cheap - especially Bitton who was buttons - would be an incredible return and could potentially be re-invested fantastically.

Is it too unpredictable for us to put buy-out clauses into players contracts?

To me Bitton would be ideal for this type of contract.. Get him signed on a new contract with a minimum buy-out and sell on percentage attached..

Say we had a £15m buy-out for Bitton it shows how much we rate the player and would fend off unworthy attention.

Everyone knows where they stand and showing this faith in the player surely would only attract top quality clubs and would be a huge boost/incentive for the player himself..

Or is it too difficult for us to predict how much an EPL club are willing to pay?

Didn't say you were. I'd only take the money if we invested at least half of it back in the team ... that's what I'm getting at :50:

That's my whole point chief, I dunno exactly what REAL-LIFE transfers entail.

I'm only answering a hypothetical question with a hypothetical answer.

IF we were to get £30m for both Virgil and Bitton - you probably have to pay out a percentage to both clubs, then you have agent fees, adminstration fees, duties, development fees etc - how much of those transfer fees are actually being invested back into the club as well as on the park, I haven't a clue.

Of course we could pick up better, but they would take time to settle into the team, have the fitness level needed to play in team etc, also how much they would cost.
Bitton was another gem we picked up for little money gave a chance and turned out to be brilliant, Bitton fits perfectly in the team.

I don't think Ronny would let both Virgil and Bitton go anyway, everytime even asked about Virgil he's adamant he wants him to stay, if both got sold any trust between Ronny and Lawell will be gone I think.

Like I said before it's all hypothetical.

If you were to look at a piece of paper and it says "hey, were going to offer you £30m for two of your players, approximately 10x what you paid for both put together - and one of the two actively wishes to leave your club........do you accept?"

You're telling me the answer would be no?

If we got offered £30m for the two they would be off

Not only that, but the player and agent wouldn't necessarily agree to that type of contract either.

The club would probably say yes but I would say no. We will get that much for getting into the CL groups.

We should definitely put buy out clauses in contracts, i just cant explain why without a long essay but I believe 100% it will get us a fairer price for our players in the long run.
