What even was his signing suggestions?

June 20th announce he will come in short term on the 1st July.

    June 28th we announce Jullien

June 29th we sign Luca Connell

July 1st Hammond starts his job

July 3rd we sign Boli - who is quoted as saying we made contact at least the week before (before Hammond).

July 24 we sign elhamed. Via the dudu dasan connection - did we really use/need Hammond for that deal?

Burke, toljan, benkovic, weah all loans that were never to be kept on.

De Vries, mulumbu, compper, Gamboa, lustig, Allan, Izzy, boyata all set to leave before he came in as well.
Tierney, arsenal were bidding for him before Hammond came in as well.

So, I know it's not just signing players he will be used for, but recruitment really is the biggest part of the job role:

"Nick's knowledge, expertise and experience will be invaluable as he assists in the Club’s recruitment across the forthcoming period."

2 weeks to go in the 'forthcoming period' (around 75% of his time allocation while being here has elapsed) and what has he actually done in regards to the club's recruitment?

@DamianWayneCSC By the sounds that Lennon has been making recently it sounds like any players they have had in mind have been vetoed until we can move players out.

Sounds like we've asked him to compile a list so we can posture and make it look like we're doing something. Completely pointless.

Absolutely pointless, and I can't get behind the notion that players need to go before we bring players in.

13 players have left from the first team squad, with only 3 coming in (Luca and the ex Hun lad we aren't counting as they are youth).
I think it's around 8 defensive players as well, from a defence that was already * poor, and we have brought in only 3.

The idea that players need to leave is shocking. Insulting actually. We must have cleared 160-200k just in player wages (around 8-10mill a year off the 59mill wage), then another 2-3mill from the management change has been saved.

The official squad has 29 players in it (last season was touching 40) and they've the cheek to include hazard, miller, Ralston, hendry, eboue, Connell in that.

23 players who will actually get a game, of those 7 are * wingers.
Leaving us with 16 players for the other 9 positions.

I have a feeling that Lawwell has requested that the wage bill be reduced from the figure it was at, which is fair enough at it was pretty high and we had a lot of dross contributing nothing but that shouldn't mean we can't sign players when there are clear deficiencies in the team.

But it has been mate those 13 players leaving have took over £200k a week off the wage bill add that to all Rodgers and his staff we have took over £300k a week off wage bill or £15m per annum which approx 25% off our wage bill

Plus our contracts are heavily bonus incentive so no UCL last year and this will result in a natural drop in wage bill!

Wonder how much he is getting for 8 weeks of work?

Also wonder what we told him his remit was - because genuinely I don't see what he has done.

Peter Houston has came back to the club as a scout of some sort - like elhamed, did we really need Hammond for that obvious connection?

The scouting team is still gash, the recruitment has been none existent since he came in.
He hasn't had a hand in bringing in any decent coaches either.

He is short term, so would be a safe assumption he hasn't been involved in any infrastructure changes (barrowfield for example).

Just what this guy's job is and what has he done is baffling.

Celts are currently looking at an overhaul of their scouting system, with temporary head of recruitment Nick Hammond overseeing changes behind the scenes.

Lennon said: “Nick’s going to write up a report and we’ll take it from there. At the minute, there’s a bit of a void in the recruitment system since Lee Congerton left.

“But again, we’re over-analysing the recruitment side of things.

Some of it has worked, some of it hasn’t.

“That happens in football, but it’s not the be all and end all. If we go out against AIK and play well and put on a positive performance, things change very quickly again.

“That’s my whole concentration at the minute.

It's just excusing the inevitability that we bring in no more signings..

Recruitment will soon be sorted out.

Nick will be drawing up lists with budgets in mind and we will get down to signing players as soon as we can find a pin.
