    Duty Calls

Although only an international “friendly” Scotland’s glamour tie against Argentina on Wednesday will certainly add spice and create a game were both nations play for national pride. Under pressure Scotland coach George Burley has got a point to prove so he is calling in all Scotland’s star players for what is sure to be a testing match for the Tartan Army.

Celtic captain Stephen McManus, in form centre back Gary Caldwell, and Celtics midfield elite Barry Robson, Paul Hartley, Shaun Maloney and on fire Scott Brown have been called up by Burley to try to help get Scotland the win at Hampden Park on Wednesday night against the stars of Argentina.

This will be Diego Maradona’s fist game at the helm of his nation and he too like George Burley will have point to prove to his doubters. Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez are among the many footballing pin ups that Maradona has at his deposal.

    Other Bhoys in international Action this week include;

    Ireland vs. Poland

Fan favourite and Scottish footballs young player of the year is set to pull on a green jersey of another kind as he takes on the polish National team. Always an attacking and creative threat McGeady is one to be watched. The Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc is out of the Polish squad after knee surgery on the Monday of this week.

    Bahrain v Australia

Last years SPLs top goal scorer Scott McDonald will take part the international friendly against the Bahrain. Although the Australians are favourites to win, McDonald will we hoping will be able to continue his good SPL form on the international stage.

The Bhoys are next in club action on the 22nd of November against St Mirren at Love Street.

    Bhoys on Tour

Next week sees our SPL title chasers take a break from fighting off opposition trying to wrestle the title from Paradise as some of the biggest names on Celtic's teamsheet will go in search for International glory.

One match which is sure to get the whole tartan army talking is the glamour friendly against Argentina at Hampden. This is made even more special by the fact that Tartan Army hero Diego Maradonna will be taking charge of Argentina for the first time. This is a match which could prove to go either way for Celtic as the bhoys involved will receive a welcome break from SPL action but with Celtic's current injury crisis just starting to ease ,with several players making returns in the weekends victory over Kilmarnock, Strachan could be in for a worrying 90 minutes with 6 Celtic stars set to play for Scotland. Celtic's central defensive partnership of McManus and Caldwell has developed into one of the most intimidating in the SPL and their recent form has led to some newswriters comparing them to the legendary defensive paring of Willie Miller and Alex McLeish at Aberdeen and if they carry this form into the Argentina game then Scotland have every chance of causing an upset at Hampden. The midfield will also have a Celtic look to it as regulars Scott Brown and Shaun Maloney will be likely starters as will Hartley and Robson who have been performing well under Strachans new rotation policy. The backbone of this Scotland squad is also the backbone of the Celtic team and Strachan knows this will let his players gain valuable experience against world class opposition.

Celtic have also got players represeting further afield ,Anderas Hinkel has been called up to the Germany squad to face England in Munich but will most likely be second choice to Werder Bremen right-back Clemens Fritz who has been consistantly improving since receiving criticism for Germany's Euro 2008 loss to Spain.

Scott McDonald will line up for Australia as they look for a morale boosting away win at Bahrain. The Aussies go with almost a full squad and the manager will be pleased that he can rotate and make changes, looking to experiment for the future.

It is still unclear yet as to whether Greek giant Georgios Samaras will appear for Greece against Italy because he is just returning from injury and will not be at full fitness or have that same cutting edge which won over every member of the hoops faithful at the beginning of the campaign.

Hoops youngster Paul Caddis has been called up to the U-21 squad to face Northern Ireland and this comes off of the back of a string of many solid performances from the Celtic man and recently a few first team appearences because of Celtic's injury headache.

Celtic are next in SPL action on the 22nd of November as they face a struggling St.Mirren side at Love Street where Strachan will be looking to continue Celtic's incredible run of victorys in the SPL.

Bhoys embark on a Call of Duty

This midweek will see 8 Celtic players country. Starting closer to home and Hampden will host a star - studded game when Scotland take on Argentina in footballing legend , Diego Maradona's first game in command of his country. Both Maradona and Burley have called their star troops in to the battle zone , in an unenviable attempt to win the war against their doubters.

Celtics commanding centre - half duo - Gary Caldwell and Stephen McManus have been called up and are expected to start on Wednesday. Their main task is to help Scotland record a clean sheet and in order to complete that objective , they will need to stop both Carlos Tevez and Aguero - a hard task to say the least. Also helping the Scottish cause is On-form Scott Brown , tough-tackling midfield partnership of Barry Robson and Paul Hartley and silky Celt Shaun Maloney. It will certainly be a tough battle for the Scots indeed.

In Dublin , Trappatoni's troops will take on the Poles. Helping the Republic's cause is - current Scottish football (young) player of the year and Celt - Aiden McGeady. Aiden will be hoping to make his way back into the Celt's starting line-up and a good performance here will make his objective a lot easier. He will be glad to see the exclusion of the "Holy Goalie" between the Pole's goals as he is currently recovering from knee surgery.

And finally , Scott McDonald will travel with the Australian national team to Bahrain - hoping to continue his recent good run of form , in which he opened the scoring against Man Utd. and has contributed to the Celtic cause with other important strikes in the SPL. Skippy - having never scored for his country - will be hoping to break his deadlock.

Good luck to all the Celts away in midweek and hopefully they return to Parkhead , injury - free.

Scotland will play Argentina on Wednesday 6 of Celtic's players will be involved they hope to score more goals than Argentina for a victory at Hampden although Scotland on footballing terms with Argentina are far behind , Many will be expecting the Argentines to run riot and score a few more goals than Scotland hope to score.

    SPL WEEKEND

Both Rangers and Celtic will be in action this coming weekend with Rangers playing St. Mirren on the Saturday and Celtic play Hamilton on Sunday. Should Rangers win they will close the gap at the top to a single point, but Celtic can re-claim the cushion come Sunday afternoon.

    Saturdays Games
    RANGERS VS ST. MIRREN
Barry Ferguson may drop out of the starting line-up for Rangers as his condition remains a concern.

The Ibrox skipper came through his first 90 minutes of the season at Motherwell on Wednesday but his fitness will be assessed before Walter Smith names his team.

Sasa Papac has been rated doubtful after suffering a blow to the head at Fir Park, although the left-back does not have concussion.

St Mirren have an unchanged squad from which to choose for their trip to Ibrox.

Love Street manager Gus MacPherson has no new injuries or suspensions following Tuesday night's 2-0 defeat at Aberdeen.

However, he remains without the injured quartet of midfielders Stephen O'Donnell, David Barron and Tonet and forward Tom Brighton.

    KILMARNOCK VS DUNDEE UTD
Kilmarnock striker Donovan Simmonds requires a hernia operation which will keep him out for the rest of his loan spell at Rugby Park.

Simmonds, on loan from Coventry until January, will go under the knife next week but will definitely miss the weekend clash with an ankle injury.

David Fernandez returns to the squad after being rested against Celtic in midweek, while Jamie Hamill (ankle), Garry Hay, (hamstring) and Simon Ford (hamstring) are back in contention.

Dundee United have a fully fit squad to choose as they head to Rugby Park.

Manager Craig Levein welcomes back Jon Daly and Warren Feeney from recent injuries and they will go back into the squad.

Despite their availability, Spaniard Francisco Sandaza and Roy O'Donovan will keep their places in attack.

INVERNESS CALEDONIAN THISTLE Vs HEART OF MIDLOTHIAN

Phil McGuire will be the only absentee for Inverness when they go in search of their second home win of the season.

Craig Brewster is hopeful the defender will make his return to action before the end of the month after sustaining ankle ligament damage against Celtic on 18th October.

Adam Rooney and Andy Barrowman could start the match after coming on as half-time substitutes to help the Highlanders gain a point against Falkirk on Wednesday evening.

Hearts welcome Michael Stewart back from suspension ahead of their trip to Caledonian Stadium.

After missing the 1-0 victory over Hamilton in midweek, the Scotland midfielder is available for the trip to the Highlands before sitting out another two-game ban after accruing too many disciplinary points.

Laryea Kingston, Saulius Mikoliunas and Deividas Cesnauskis all remain sidelined through injury but striker Christian Nade, the match-winner on Wednesday night, is likely to recover from a slight hamstring injury.

    HIBERNIAN VS ABERDEEN

Hibernian manager Mixu Paatelainen looks like being handed a double fillip ahead of Saturday's encounter.

Skipper Rob Jones, who missed Wednesday's defeat to Dundee United for family reasons, and striker Steven Fletcher, who was sidelined at Tannadice with an ankle injury, are set to return against the Dons.

Winger Alan O'Brien also made his first appearance since August in the 2-0 defeat on Tayside and will further strengthen Paatelainen's offensive options.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is hopeful Mark Kerr will shrug off a calf strain in time to feature.

However long-term absentee Jamie Smith looks set to miss the Easter Road clash through illness, despite having recovered from a calf strain.

Tommy Wright (Achilles), Stuart Duff (knee) and Bertrand Bossu (calf) all miss the trip through injury.

    FALKIRK VS MOTHERWELL

Falkirk manager John Hughes has selection concerns heading into the weekend contest.

Winger Neil McCann is out after picking up a hamstring problem at Inverness in midweek, while defender Gerard Aafjes is struggling to return due to a thigh knock.

Carl Finnigan (virus), Tam Scobbie (hernia) and Brian Allison (foot) remain absent, while young striker Dayne Robertson has joined Irn-Bru Third Division strugglers Berwick on a month's loan.

Motherwell striker David Clarkson returns from suspension for the trip to Falkirk Stadium.

On-loan defender Maros Klimpl may make the bench but he is unlikely to be handed his debut before being given a run-out in the reserves following an ankle problem.

Captain Stephen Craigan (groin) remains on the sidelines along with long-term absentee Brian McLean (knee).

    Sundays Game

    HAMILTON VS CELTIC

Hamilton manger Billy Reid faces an unenviable task this weekend as he attempts to derail Celtic's title charge.

Reid will hope teenage sensation James McCarthy, who has already been considered for Republic of Ireland duty by Giovanni Trapattoni, can continue his impressive adaptation to top flight life.

Lucas Akins, meanwhile, is one of only two concerns for the Accies as he struggles with a hamstring strain, while Mark Corcoran is likely to be sidelined with a hip injury.

Mark McLaughlin suffered a slight knock to his knee in midweek at Hearts but should be okay to face the reigning champions.

The Accies will also have their strongest side available to them this weekend, but that may not prove to be enough to gain a positive result.

Celtic manager Strachan has named an unchanged squad as the Hoops look to maintain their impressive form.

Midfielders Shunsuke Nakamura and Shaun Maloney both returned from injury for the 3-0 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead on Wednesday night, while striker Georgios Samaras was fit enough to come off the bench in the second half after recovering from a knee injury.

However, Aiden McGeady, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, Chris Killen, Glenn Loovens, Artur Boruc and Marc Crosas are all still out with various ailments.

All in all it looks like it could be an exciting weekend of SPL football for fans of every team around the country.:shamrock:

    My Entry:

    FOR CLUB AND COUNTRY

As we look forward to a mid-week of International fixtures let's preview the Bhoys who will be representing their home Nations.

First up, the Scottish Contingent! As Tevez and co. make the trip to Hampden they will face up against an array of Celts. Captain of club and country, Stephen McManus will take his place at the heart of defence alongside the in-form Gary Caldwell. Scott Brown and Barry Robson will be on duty in the midfield, as will Paul hartley who recently bagged an important last-gasp goal for the Hoops. Shaun Maloney may also feature in a game that will no doubt be a stern test for Scots, as Argentinian legend Diego Maradona takes the helm for his first game in charge.

Meanwhile Ireland will play host to the Poles at Croke Park. Geovanni Trappatonni has got the Irish playing effectively as a unit, with the Hoops winger Aiden McGeady providing an attacking threat out wide. Unfortunately Artur Boruc, the Celtic and Poland talisman between the sticks, will miss out due to a recent knee operation.
Also, Andreas Hinkel and the fresh back from injury Georgios Samaras will line-up for Germany and Greece respectvely.

Finally, the Aussie attacker Scott McDonald will be in action for his country as they face minnows Bahrain. The dimunitive striker will be looking to break his goalscoring duct for Australia after coming into some fine form for Celtic as of late.

Gordon Strachan will be praying that, given the recent spate of injuries that has hit Celtic Park, all his International players will come back on fine form with no fresh injury woes, where they will next face St. Mirren on the 22nd. :shamrock:

Right, we've decided that CelticUtd & ConnellyBhoy's articles and general attitude about the forum swung our decision. Whilst ConnellyBhoy's article was on the wrong topic, it still required alot of effort to compose and we couldnt ignore someone that put in a good deal of effort.

We would like to thank everyone that applied.

Congratulations lads, your accounts will be upgraded shortly
