Dragic doubtful to return, now Bam going back to the dressing room for treatment.

Lakers in one :39::fear: At this rate, it genuinely looks like a question of how quickly the Lakers want to get home.

I’m worried this “culture” as they call it might be gone by the time Giannis gets here if it’s him. Also worried he’s too mentally soft for someone like Butler.

Crowder, Dragic and Iggy aren’t getting younger and the first two might not even be here next season never mind 2021. Robinson, Nunn and Bam will want paid that summer too if they continue to improve. So much worry after one bad game.

Harrell would fit the culture, someone they’ve been linked with. Doesn’t give us that Davis match up though.

If Bam is out, chalk it, it’s over.

Team is banged up after a monumental effort.

The biggest factor in the future NBA is going to be Davis after he’s got over the line of winning.

We’ve seen countless players with insane talent struggle to get over the line for a ring and the fear factor dissipates. (Harden, Westbrook, Melo, even CP3) Giannis could very quickly become that after the last couple of playoffs.

A Davis that knows how to win is going to dominate this league for the next 6/7 years health Permitting. Adebayo is the only one I think that can maybe match up with him but the Lakers are so big they can flood the paint and nullify Bam.

It’s going to be interesting to see how GSW retool. I’d they look for someone to combat AD or look for a shooter/playmaker to go with Steph and Klay.

At least the Bulls don’t need to worry about competing for about 5 years at least unless AD comes home :56:

This is why a hate this league man. Players just pick where they want to play.

    * superstars teaming up to go the big markets and play with their pals.

The respect I’ll have for Giannis if he stays in Milwaukee man.

It’s pretty frustrating when you’ve got LeBron pulling players in.

A couple of stars and surround them with guys who can play on smaller contracts, with the incentive of a ring.

The good thing about the Heat is that unlike the big 3, they’ve manufactured this team pretty organically. Bam and Herro were drafted, Butler came in with no promise of instant success like we’ve seen, other role players brought in and trusted like Jae. Dragic is basically part of the furniture at this point. Players will want to play alongside Butler who’s came in and bought into it, and Bam who’s been developed here. A more likeable big 3 than your Celtics were, Heat were, Golden State were.

Good for Kendrick Nunn getting minutes and showing his worth a bit. Showing why he was in the Rookie of the Year voting alongside Ja and Zion. Him and Herro have a bright future.

Easy to say as a Bulls fan but it’s why no one can ever be compared to MJ.

Even GSW as a team ruined their legacy imo by signing KD, but anyone would’ve signed him in that position. Him going their and winning two rings ruined both his and that teams reputation. They completely revolutionised the game and played maybe the best style ever.

Canny wait for all the Last Dance style documentaries in 20 years trying to paint Lebron as some sort of Underdog. Instead of a scene like Jordan getting battered off the Bad Boys and making the whole team cancel their summer and put weight on, we’ll have Lebron KD Bosh Pierce Garnett Wade Steph Klay on yachts trying to recruit each other and work out their salaries...

Far rather see a series like Utah/Denver than this *.

    This isn’t Lakers vs Heat.

It’s AD vs a Lebron for the FMVP.

If your argument for MJ being the GOAT is sticking with one team and winning championships, Bill Russell won 11 in Boston.

If your argument is that Jordan’s teams never recruited to improve with the goal of championships, then that’s nonsense too. Take Dennis Rodman as the perfect example. As you said, Rodman’s Pistons bullied the Bulls, so they then went out and signed him.

I’m a huge fan of Jordan, but the lengths his fans will go to to try and diminish the achievements of others is farcical. Even the whole Last Dance documentary massively downplayed the impact of Pippen and others. The NBA has always been about drafting as well as possible, but complimenting those players with trades and free agents.

Jordan never got close to winning a championship “alone” whereas LeBron dragged the 2007 Cavs to the brink singlehandedly. The Celtics went out and built a super team to try and stop LeBron dominating, which is what really started the super team era.

Is LeBron better than MJ? Honestly, I don’t know, but anyone who claims it’s not a fair question or comparison is flat out wrong.

MJ has that old school mystical Maradona about him. Lebraun is still playing so he will never be regarded as good as MJ. The same way some argue Maradona and messi.

MJ is still more widely known though. Ask your gran if you've heard or MJ or lebraun. As big as Lebraun is, hes still not reached MJ levels of worldwide fame.

In a 1v1 peak vs peak, the fact MJ beat the monstars means he wins :56:

Agreed. Without doubt the Jordan brand is absolutely enormous and he played in the NBA at a time when it exploded into a league of worldwide interest (which he obviously played a big part in). LeBron uses his platform very differently though, such as the “I promise” schools and using his voice for social injustice causes.

Space Jam 2 due out next year too, starring LeBron :fear:

The argument is what Jordan overcame to become the best and then completely dominated his era against legit all time greats. Bill Russell’s era was a completely different sport. It’s not comparable to anything since Bird/Magic transformed the sport.

Jordan won a 3peat and retired for 18 months before he played with Rodman so saying Rodman Piston’s bullied Jordan so he went out and recruited Rodman is farcical.

Pippen was drafted but even so, Jordan said himself when you speak his name out Scottie Pippen alongside Michael Jordan.

Mate if you think the ‘Celtics big 3’ are comparable to the likes of Bird’s Celtics, Johnson’s Lakers or the Bad Boy Pistons then it’s pointless trying to have this debate.

The point about Lebron almost winning in Cleveland sums it up. Jordan played on an awful bulls team in an era of great teams but stayed and found out how to win then completely dominated his generation. Lebron was on a team that nearly won but still left because he wanted to take the easy route to titles.

Lebron built a super team and lost to the * Dallas Mavericks... he boasted about how they were going to win 7 championships, clearly aimed at Jordan, but ended up winning two when the Spurs sent them packing as well. Michael Jordan on that Heat team instead of Lebron and they’re breaking all sorts of records and not only winning 2 out of 4 titles.

Even last year Lebron tried to * recruit Kawhi Leonard after already recruiting AD. Kawhi who was the reigning FMVP and best player in the world at the time. They’re not comparable.

I don’t think you can blame LeBron though, that’s the nature of the beast these days. If he doesn’t recruit the players, another team of stars will. People have to combat it after the Warriors basically started ripping the pish.

I don’t think his 7 titles comment was aimed at Jordan either. He says “Not 1, not 2...” up to “not 7”. He’s just playing to the crowd there.

They should have had 4 straight titles. But the first year the Mavs had their number. Bosh outscored LeBron in the finals. The Spurs team that beat them were unreal, Kawhi was finals MVP. People forget how good he was.

I hate the Jordan, LeBron, Kobe debate. They’ve all dominated at different times.

You argue Bill Russell’s era was a different sport, so is today’s game even compared to 20 years ago and a huge part of why is LeBron’s dynamism. The game has evolved, range has extended and players generally weren’t as skilled or athletic in Jordan’s era as they are now. Yes, it was more physical as it was more focused on scoring inside, but Michael Jordan never had to face teams who switched constantly on defence or played with the advanced defensive schemes that teams have now.

Rodman won two titles with Detroit (coming through against the Bulls and the rest of the East) before he moved to Chicago. The Bulls then recruited him a few years later as he improved their roster and gave them a better chance of winning. He’s just one example, but the idea that you’re suggesting that the Bulls just left Jordan to it and didn’t build successfully around him is absolutely farcical.

Teams have and will always find ways to improve and build around the best players. Some will be far more successful than others (usually the bigger markets). Cleveland were massively disadvantaged in that respect and that was compounded by their management completely failing to build a contender around LeBron during his first stint there (in much the same way that the Pelicans failed AD). LeBron seen teams around him like Boston (and even Miami beforehand in bringing in Shaq to help Wade) building to win and was right to leave the Cavs. It was nothing about taking the easy route, it was about doing what was required to succeed. *, he was proved bang on by winning in Miami and then forcing the Cavs to get it right second time round. I would feel very very certain that if you put Jordan in LeBron’s shoes in Cleveland in 2003, he wouldn’t ever have won a title there. It could even be argued that Jordan only succeeded in Chicago (in much the same way people undermine Lionel Messi by saying he’s only done it at one club) and wouldn’t have done so elsewhere. You could even argue that he knew that himself and thats why he retired the second time. Personally I think that’s disrespectful to both Jordan and Messi, but it’s a valid flip side to the argument you’re giving to try and downplay LeBron’s success.

The irony is that LeBron and the 2011 Heat would be criticised less over the course of history if they had failed to reach the finals (like Jordan did repeatedly) rather than losing to the Mavs. He never “boasted” about winning 7 championships, he never said they’d win 7 at all. He made very clear that he felt they were in a position to try and win as many championships as possible, however many that turned out to be. For what it’s worth, the 2014 Spurs were an incredibly good team who would have been successful in any era (and don’t forget the Heat beat them the year before).

Whether Jordan would have succeeded on that Heat team to a greater extent than James did is a matter of opinion, but hard to know. The one thing you can be sure of is that he wouldn’t have been near as good a fit for that team as LeBron was. He’d also arguably not have been near as good a match up against Durant and Leonard in those Finals as LeBron was, so it’s all very much up in the air.

If you’re trying to claim that MJ wouldn’t have tried to bring in Leonard had he been in LeBron’s position last year, you’re wrong. He would have done what gave his team the best chance to win. In general it’s a different league now because players do move around more, but that’s certainly not LeBron’s fault.

Being a Bulls fan, you might not want to face the facts, but there’s no denying that LeBron and MJ are at a comparable level. Totally different players, but both arguably the greatest ever.

Let’s be honest the Super Team era started when Lebron went to Miami with Bosh and Wade.

Celtics ‘Big 3’ are hardly a super team and one of the poorest teams to have won a Championship in the last * knows how long.

His comments where because he knew how uncompetitive it was. Or how uncompetitive it should’ve been really.

Kawhi was also a baby and up against Lebron in his prime.

The Mavs has their number because Lebron choked. He shat it. Jordan never choked. That’s the difference.

They dominated but Kobe and Lebron didn’t dominated it like Jordan did.

Jordan stopped people like Barkley, Mutumbo, Reggie Miller, Wilkins, Ewing, Stockton, Malone winning rings. Even * Olajuwon only won 2 while Jordan retired to play baseball.

In Lebron and Kobe’s eras everybody is winning rings.

Looks like Doc to the Sixers. He met their front office and watched game one with them last night...

Embiid and Simmons are both still young but really feels like the Sixers are wasting any potential chance of a title there.

Would’ve went and got a young up and coming coach and tried trading one of Simmons/Embiid for a haul and retool the team.
