The only difference between a standard contract and a rolling contract is that a rolling contract will renew automatically on it's expiry date unless either party gives notice to terminate and/or requests a change to the conditions.

In Lennon's case - his contract would automatically renew when it expires (31 May at a guess) unless Desmond provides the required legal notice of termination. He's not owed 365 days money - he's owed the amount of time until his current contract expires - same as a standard contract.

That's what I don't understand - why doesn't Desmond sack him and pay him the 4 or 5 months money he's due.

He's dragging the club down on and off the pitch - paying him off would be the cheaper option in the long run.

Lennon left the first time as he said he couldn't take us any further with what backing Lawwell was offering. He had just been sacked from Hibs & Bolton previous so was in a bad position as a manager. Lawwell knew this & used him as a yes man after all the stuff with Rodgers.

People seem to just want to make excuses for him now. He should have been thanked after finishing Rodgers season & moved on.

Apparently he's on a 2 million bonus for winning the 10 in a row and of they sack him while it's still mathematically possible they have to pay him it.

No it’s not. A rolling contract means he has one year left on his contract every day he wakes up.

Surely gardening leave would be an option then?

Once the league is confirmed, pay him up the rest and no bonus.

Does he need to go into work on his day off to sign the contract, or did they just sign one contract but they filled in the expiry date "today + 1 year"

On current form, that point will be reached before Easter.

Doesn't preclude Desmond and Lawwell lining someone up to start once this point is reached or at the end of the season depending upon their availability.

Won't leave unless sacked, that's exactly what he said, legacy now gone for me, never want to see him near the club again in any capacity after all this is over.

As Kevin said last night on A Celtic State of Mind, Dermot has the money to pay Lennon off in his bedroom drawer, get your hand in your deep * pocket & fix this mess that you let happen, Dermot has the ultimate say in who is manager & was clearly heavily persuaded into hiring Lennon again by that * Lawwell. Grow a pair and end this for the sake of the supporters sanity if nothing else!

Under the assumption that no one is now lined up for the job,no one wants it now, especially in this mess that we are in.

I knew the Howe stuff was bullshit,he was to big a name for nothing outside silly whattsapp rumours to be true.

The club is in an absolute mess now and along with covid etc,not many people at all will be interested in this job thats of a big name now and especially knowing what our board is like and always will be like.

We need Desmond to go,Lawell and Lennon to go,throw in Kennedy along with players like Duffy/Ed,Ntcham,Brown,MOI,Barkas,Calmac and probably others.

A full new boardroom with positivity and understanding of where our fans want to go in the future,European Champions league status and Domestic dominance without letting Sevco back in and going on a run....but all this is a massive ask, again considering the state we are in and the pandemic and money situations going forward.

Last night was acceptance, accepting we are *,we have an abysmal manager with severe tactical flaws, accepting our board are scum * that dont give a * anymore, hence not sacking him, accepting we have mediocre players and accepting that a majority of these players should never pull the hoops on again.

Again its gone far beyond lennon now,he should have been punted after the CL exit, the board failed in that, they stuck with him until January, they failed on that...now they are still backing him after 20 plus points behind, and again failed to act.

Sickening, how much we have fallen in 4 months, and all are to blame.

Have you seen this contract? 12 months is the term of the contract but it's perfectly legal to have an agreed notice period included in a rolling contract (as with any other contract).

Many Govt departments have senior management on 12 month rolling contracts that include a 2 or 3 month notice period.

Just because someone is on a 12 month rolling contract absolutely does not mean they are automatically entitled to 12 months notice.

The truth is that Lennon may be entitled to 12 months money or he may be entitled to 3 or 6. He's entitled to whatever notice period is defined in the contract he signed.

I don't know because I haven't read the contract and neither do you.
