Whilst the guy is clearly an idiot the fact that he was charged let alone convicted is not a path we want to go down. The loss of freedom of speech is not inconsequential and people should be wary of the potential for abuse of the system by the government.

Incremental loss of rights is how we'll end up with the government imprisoning people for having views they disagree with. Whilst that is not in the forseeable it is important to remember that these rights took hundreds of years to obtain but can be removed almost in an instant and will never be regained.

Let these kind of idiots and worse speak freely and they'll show themselves up for what they are.

We’ve just squashed the very poorly mismanaged Bill at football in this selective society in modern thinking Scotland. Run for a number of years to give your average beat Policeman the power to decide wether a person is sectarian or offensive. So poorly run it was despised by fans of nearly every club and was an attempt by the Scottish government to alienate football fans as a whole. Again being treated as second class citizens while the rugby crowd got all the encouragement and incentives to follow their team. So this * being punished for teaching his old dog new tricks should come as no surprise. No such thing as freedom of speech. You always pay in the end.

Without knowing the guys background or politics, I did chuckle as I read the story. Whether this kind of thing appeals to your sense of humour or not, I find it sad that the right of freedom of speech has now been trumped by the right of others not to feel offended.

Of course there is a tricky grey area in many cases when freedom speech is used to threaten others. But a pug doing a * salute doesnt feel like an attempt to encourage hate or violence against anyone.

We are all suppose to hate the Nazis for gassing the jews but we all have to hate the jews because they apparently run the world and are responsible for everything that is bad in the world. Plus we have also to hate the Brits and Americans who defeated the Nazis. Just one question who do people actually like?

Ps the video was pretty funny tbh.

Jailing someone because of a joke isn't something a Fascist government would do? While I don't think the joke was funny, he should never have been jailed for it.

Because making the joke he made doesn't make him a Fascist (he seems quite big on Youtube so don't know what else he has said). Jailing someone over a joke is something a Fascist would do.
