Big gamble but wouldn’t necessarily surprise me if it worked out, obviously he just clicked at Dundee Utd but would be nice to see him bang in 10 goals in the second half of the season and keep St Johnstone up.

Jaysus, still only 29. I was in attendance away to Motherwell when he scored in a 0-1 win for the Hoops.

Strange signing. For all the players available they are digging up one that has largely been a flop only as they know the name.

All I remember of this * was he used to throw himself to the ground as soon as he was tackled then moan to the ref about not getting the foul. Waste of space.

Nadir Ciftci admits he always wanted to play for Celtic after starring for Dundee United - but confessed he didn't feel the love at Parkhead.

The Turkish striker was signed by Ronny Deilain 2015 following a stunning two seasons at Tannadice, where he netted 33 goals after transforming his career under Jackie McNamara. Ciftci formed a close bond with the United faithful and made a classy gesture upon his big-money exit by paying for a full-page advert in the Courier to thank them for their support.

It was a golden period in the frontman's career but Ciftci struggled to recapture his goalscoring form at Celtic Park, finding the net just four times. After four different spells out on loan, he eventually returned to his homeland in Genclerbirligi in 2018 after falling completely out of the picture under Brendan Rodgers.

In a wide-ranging interview with the guys at Dode Fox Podcast, he said: "Obviously for me, I got offers at the time from different teams abroad as well. But I always said if I leave, I would love to go to Celtic, no matter which team would come.

"But I was always thinking of staying in Scotland and playing for Celtic, if it was in my hands and I was going to get a move. For me, the most important thing is something to give back.

They didn't pay anything for me, so I got a great fee back to United for me to leave like that. I think that got me back into a great situation for me and I had a feeling that I had to give United something back

Since then, the start of Celtic wasn't the greatest because of my six [banned] games, which was frustrating. I didn't really get the same things that I did at United from the staff, basically. Not in a bad way, I mean every manager and every person is different from themselves.

"I think I was kind of lost in myself because all of the support I got from Jackie and the staff, I kind of got a bit lost. So I didn't feel much confidence or much love, let me say it that way.

"So I was thinking in my head that I had to get away on loan or whatever, whereas I think I shouldn't have. In the meantime, until today, a lot of things have happened in my life since I left United, ups and downs.

The best thing about his transfer is that someone posted in this thread saying Nadir Ciftci was Turkish for “Needs Shifted”. :giggle1:
