Denayer was so good in a Celtic jersey that there was genuine debate about 'who would you rather keep' on here between Denayer and Van Dijk. And an awful lot of people said Denayer.

 

No he’s not.

Denayer was excellent for us that season and is now playing for and captaining a far better team than Jullien was at in Ligue 1.

 

Yep, Denayer I thought actually read the game better, but VVD has more bows in his locker and has now seemed to have just got better and better, whilst Denayer hasn't.

Big Jules is a more stronger and aerial menace than him.

Van Dijk never made him look good. He was excellent for us in his own right.

As far as I’m aware he’s been good at Lyon as well, hence why he’s the captain and has started just about every game for them in the last 2 seasons.

 

Aye, thought he was very good for us.

Read the game brilliantly, just as well as VVD at times too.

Lyon are ready to sell Moussa Dembele in the next transfer window, but will not let Houssem Aouar leave the club, reports say.


Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have registered an interest in Aouar, while Dembele is being chased by Chelsea and Manchester United. Chelsea saw a big for Dembele rejected in January and L’Equipe claim they expect the Blues to reignite their bid to sign the forward in the next transfer window.


United are also tracking Dembele and Lyon are prepared to cash in on their star striker. But the same cannot be said for midfielder Aouar, who is rated at around £65million. The 21-year-old has long been coveted by top European clubs, but Lyon have him under contract until 2023 and intend to retain his services. Dembele, on the other hand, is reportedly eager for a new challenge and could fetch over £50m, considering his excellent goalscoring record.


The 23-year-old has 16 Ligue 1 goals this season and has continued to produce the same kind of numbers he managed at his former clubs Celtic and Fulham.


Frank Lampard wants a striker capable of challenging Tammy Abraham and identified Dembele in January as the perfect option. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also needs more firepower upfront and Lyon will be hoping a bidding war for Dembele’s services erupts. However, with the coronavirus pandemic putting football across the world on hold, it is likely this summer’s transfer window will be moved. FIFA has reportedly agreed on new measures to tackle coronavirus, including the delayed opening of the transfer window
