So according to this link, MWR is a full, downloadable game which you get as long as you own infinite warfare. In theory then it will be saved to your account as a standalone game and you could sell the disc as long as you've got history of playing the game on your PSN/Xbox account. Hopefully!

To me that's saying you must have Infinite Warfare to play it.

Also this part of the same link:

Again they are using the word "own" rather than "buy" suggesting you must have IW to play MW. They could have said you must buy one of the IW Legacy editions to play MW and that would suggest you could download MW then get shot of IW.

Their choice of words aren't making it clear and they haven't said how you can download MW, is it a code in the box? Is it accessed from IW menus? I think the latter might be the case.

Yeah true the terminology is a bit cryptic. With it saying its a full game download though surely it will be stored like an app as other download games are and therefore no disc needs to be inserted?

Suppose we'll have to wait and see!

Well I remember getting the limited edition of Medal of Honor on the PS3 which had Medal of Honor Frontline Remastered bundled with it, you had to access the download from the MoH disc, install it on the PS3 hard drive but needed to have the MoH disc in the console to play it. It showed on the XMB as a normal downloaded game, but when you tried to start it, it told you to put in the MoH disc. So it's not unprecedented for a download game to need the other game running to play it.

Think it was around 10 months before they released Medal of Honor Frontline Remastered as a standalone game after it being a MoH limited edition exclusive. I'd be extremely surprised if MW Remastered isn't released as a standalone game next year.

Longer than I thought, but even so, just hold off.
Folk will be playing the mwr for years now, may as well wait it out and refuse to give Activision any more money for their regurgitated *.

Even if I could trade IW and keep MWR I still wasn't going to give Activision the £70 just out of principle. I don't like the idea of being forced into buying an overpriced edition of one game just to get another, especially when the main game is something I wouldn't even spend a tenner on :smiley-laughing002:

If it was free with IW like Frontline Remastered was with the MoH limited edition (the limited edition was basically the one you got at no extra cost if you pre-ordered) then I might have considered it, although spending £45 on a 10 year old game and another game I have zero interest in playing is still overpriced.

I'm willing to pay an extra £25 or so just now rather than wait another year to maybe get a standalone version.

I don't necessarily like how they have went about it all but I rarely buy many games nowadays so 70 quid doesn't hurt me as much as it might have if I was buying a new one every month.

I'm kind of the same, I only really play Fifa and GTA now anyway, but CoD 4 was probably my favourite shooter of all time. The new one looks fantastic on NextGen.

MW2 was also great but too many noob equipments & killstreaks. Tactical insertion, chopper gunner etc. COD 4 was straight up guns & grenades with the odd AI chopper.

Activision have confirmed that you will need the Infinite Warfare disc in the console to plat MW Remastered.

Martyrdom, juggernaut and grenade spam were all big problems in cod4. Also kill streaks were too easy to get, 7 kills for a helicopter is too easy.
